Goose Chase

Recommended Posts

Went up the fields today, same place as the oak tree shown in a previous post. As I got closer to that same large oak, I bloody started playing hide and seek with a grey. He saw me, edged over the other side of the what was large branch, I sneaked round, he edged over the other side... and so it continued...

Question 1, how long does on continue this? Little shit :)

I was in fact hoping to sit with me back against the tree but there was no way I was gonna do that knowing that there was a possible target directly above me. I had in fact planned to bag a few birds from a nearby tree, but had to go through this malarkey before hand. So I thought, I bet any money that a bird flies in on the tree I 'would' of had if I'd of just got on with me initial plan. So be hold, two birds drop in, see me, and bugger off. If I was in my spot when I planned they'd of been spot on shots too.

Question 2, would be, when you have an idea and you get distracted, do we still pursue our initial idea even though you know you could bag a quick shot before hand?

Went home after that. Damn squirrels. Did make me smile mind.

I know what you mean pal....I did it last time out. I planned on static hunting but drove passed a few bunnies and woodies on the way so went stalking..in vain so went back to plan A but spooked them on the way back and blanked. I call it "eyes bigger than belly syndrome" and I suffer from it a lot !!

ah the horrible dilemma of seeing quarry where you wanted to set up but decided on somewhere else! happened to me the last few times out, with shotguns,we pick a spot that looks like a flight line/feeding spot and trudge over set up wait and hardly get a shot off,the original spot we decided against seems lively, end up in the spinney "roosting",my mate calls it f***ing typical,i call it sod's law :hmm:
