Thanks everyone. Wouldnt have put it up on here but for the social lubricant know as vino!!!

Gem, itll be hard for him getting there but itll be worth it in the long run.

IMO you only get out what you out in with this life and you only get one chance!

35-65k a year job is what he'll get out of it! less than 1/3rd of his class made it from 1st year to 3rd year and half of his class are failing badly

we were a class of 30 to start and I think 14 were there today.

as part of the final unit we had to do a 45minute presentation in groups of 4, not easy public speaking for 10-15 mins to someone not used to it. Anyways, yesterday at 10am one of our group members sent a round robin email that she couldnt do it and was dropping out! 26hours notice! Me and the other two just got on with it and got through, hopefully we will be rewarded for carrying on instead of being chastised for lack of content(i e. the bit she was doing)

half the class dropped out first year as it was so intense, second year 1 guy had a mental breakdown another few dropped out and the rest are repeating 2nd year. they are doing CA's every week and do several presentations in each year, my fella had to do a presentation on the website he spent the last few weeks building today... hes already applied for extensions on his exams as baby is due on 24th april and his exams are all through may. im guessing that out of the class of 24 hes in now only a few will make it, he can do it but with all the extra stress it will be by the skin of his teeth

For the last year and a half I have been doing a HNC in building services engineering, ontop of daft hours at work, a family with wife, toddler and one on the way, a new old house to do up, three dogs

Well done......fcuk dry January, it's overrated!

Well done Ryan. Did my HNC in electronic engineering about 6 years ago so know exactly what you've had to go through.

The coursework is a nightmare isn't it. Seems like it's never ending.

Hope it gets you where you want to be. All the best with the future.

What do you do fella? Im currently an electrical engineer in construction, Looking to move into prohect management which is why I took the BSE HNC instead of electronic so I gained mechanical knowledge.

Good description that mate. Like a weight had been lifted. I did my BTEC Nat Dip 2 years full time, HNC 2 years part time and HND 1 year part time. So I was glad to get it out of the way.

I was working in the casino industry, installing, maintaining and repairing anything and everything from slot machines to roulette wheels to CCTV systems to the door access systems.

I left the industry to work on the roads 2 years ago so sadly my HNC/HND are worthless now. But they are always there to fall back on.

All the best.

Yeah had to do big project in second year. It was a group project where we basically got .dwg layouts for a building and had to design all the building services for it, cost it and then do a 45minute presentation about our design.

Bet that was a relief when it was over. Im in the middle of mine but its one of those lessons that gets forgotten about untill the last few months and the works building up.
