Going to have a look at this tomorrow.Freelander TD4 GS 2001 1800euros 126,000 miles

Bloke is a proper mechanic, he originally worked on the car sorting out the clutch for the owner, owner couldnt pay his bill so mechanic bought car, he reckons he has run it for 6 months and will give a 3month warranty with it. Loads of history/receipts he did mention prop?! or something

It was ok with him because he's a good mechanic mate ;) ,foresters are juicey to run  ,i have a old ranger myself and there a ok motor and don't snap in half like some jap 4x4's do...
........iv'e never heard of a jap 4x4 snapping in half.....come to think about it....iv'e never none any car to snap in half.....where have you seen a jap 4x4 snap in half mate?
Navaras snap where the tub and cab meets, must be a Nissan thing cause cabstars snap to
snap......iv'e never heard of a 4x4 snapping, how do they snap?,
the chassis rots through and as the cab and bed are not joined together they snap at that point, all trucks are prone to it, but they must have had some right dodgy mot on them as it takes a few years to go and should be picked up at the mot long before it snaps, I am just in the process of cutting the gout out of my transit tipper chassis in exactly the same place, it's got to the point were another coat of bitumin just won't cut it even with a one eyed mot inspector, and as brilliant as jap motors are they have always been a bit slack on the under seal side of things so chassis rot is there one weakness,

i here what you are saying.......but i would have to experience it for myself to believe it, i can't see it happening TBH, i could see it happening if, it was some sort of cut n shut job, but not rot and snap, we've had a lot of jap pick ups going back 36+ years, and none ever showed signs of chassis rot, no where close to it, also 30 year old transit tippers that the cabs are as rotten as a pair, but the chassis are still good,

yes mate, i had a read, there is defornately a design fault or a bad metal used etc, but none have actually snapped, if they rectify the problem, everything should be ok,

Theres plenty of navaras worldwide that have snapped, usually when an owner goes to tow something with a chassis that's on it's way out

yes....it seems you are right about the navara, my apologies,

dont bother with a landrover mate, they are all crap, terrible motors, stick to a jap 4x4 more reliable more comfort and a much better motor,

Why the F**k did they stop making the Fourtrak?? I owned 5 and even used one as a poor mans tractor on a smallholding, absolutely brilliant I worked it hard and bits kept falling off and still it star

The early petrol engines on the Freelanders are well known for blowing head gaskets, so be careful..

i,ll stick some pics of my 96 tranny tipper chassis on if you want it's been welded up several times in the same place were the cab meets the bed, and is once again in need of a more drastic repair, if I put a full load on as it is it would break the chassis at that point, sand and shit get down there and just sit on top the chassis the rain gets down there so it's always wet, it's a natural trap, I drive tranny trucks all the time and one of the first thing I look at before buying them is if the gap between the cab and bed is straight, if the ladder rack is leaning toward the cab it normally means the chassis has at some point gone here and been welded up out of true, trust me I,m a tatter

If it keeps cracking you need to flitch plate the chassis
