Have you that slate and shale or the sand in it. I was in it yday and will try again Tuesday. That chiltern ground is the worst I've ever constantly hit. We all now bad earths, that take a day to sort. That stuff down there is awesome. Makes a sweaty heap of us all. " character building" so I'm told. For me I like a shovel full, rather have 8/10 foot of soil.

Yep think yr right, but I hit it everywhere, with that white chalk. Cotswold stuff is layered where I've been, take it to pieces like a jigsaw. Proper tools and a dog that's fit and able for several hrs, not a grab and hold for twenty mins. " my opinion only" before the trolls get going.

Not always the outcome u desire but that's the name of the game and it's not every week we dig that permission takes u week to recover . Gyp roc ain't the hardest of stuff to dig just fracture lines that make easy earth's a nite mare my terriers ain't world beaters but they stay til dug wouldn't keep them if they never did there job . Yes mate Staffordshire gypsum mine runs threw some of our permission. Also fauld crater that occurred when bombs went off yrs back.old keeper friend had border to ground 2 days had jcb power packs generators got his dog but quarry was in front and behind dog can be very deep rob alot of deep earth's in that part rob .

stone by any chance? I know someone that had a lot of perm there. Tough going, all day jobs.
