Weihrauch Springer Mod

Recommended Posts

Right you chaps that know a thing or two about Weihrauch springers. My son in law is interested in an under lever model for general plinking, a bit of range work and some ratting if I manage to get some but is it possible to fit a moderator to an under lever model, if so, which model.

Don't forget the 99 break barrel :D

The 97 should be fairly Quiet. Is it just a HW your after? Personally I'd take a good look at the AA springers. If you get the chance to shoot them both side by side I'd dare say you would pick an AA.

Yes Jonnie

I was thinking light , medium and heavy..... 99-----95----80.

Phil don't let him be put off by break barrel HW's. I have used the 95 most of this year but also have an under lever hw77 as well.

You can get a 99 custom called an IMP by Sandwell Field Sports but you have to order them.

If you like the standard 99 the imp is a cut down one that is pimped up.

Respect to choices but i would agree with Jonnie and jjm except my choice would be the T Rex .177( all AA rifles come ready tuned too)

You might find you don`t need a moderator with either of the AA rifles as they don`t normally miss much :whistling: .but are ready threaded to take one should you wish.

I do try to keep with this rule :icon_redface: (no missing)

Good luck Phil.

Hello Mark

That is an excellent choice against the heavy hw77/97 if it turns out he wants to go heavy and under lever but if he wants light the The 99 could be a good option.

Not sure what other quality light ones are out there ?

Don't forget the 98 too VWman :D

If you go for a 99 get a .22 trust me on that.

My AA prosport isn't threaded, I think the latest ones are though, but it's pretty quiet as the shroud extends over the barrel by a few inches and has baffles inside which is pretty effective.

Great feed back guys, thank you very much.

I think because I have the HW100KT and my son in law has shot it, he would love one but well outside what he can afford for a while but liked the quality aspect of the HW and was aware of the springers being possibly in his price range but made to a high standard. AA was not in the frame because to be honest none of the shops anywhere near us actually sell them in springer format.

The other point was that there are plenty of s/h Weihrauch guns to be had and the fixed barrel models we both thought would be more accurate than a break barrel but I will quickly say that I am happy to be corrected on that issue if you guys think that is the case.

We have good food for thought here now so it is a case of him reviewing what he can afford and start the search for a gun..

Thanks again

Phil

For plinking, range work and ratting then would i be right in thinking static shooting off benches,bi pod or shooting sticks :hmm: ?

Each to their own but i would lean towards .177 and a heavy rifle = a very steady rifle, - static !

Yes Mark that is the way I would go but I could not convince my mate, he insisted in having my nice just run in HW95

so I hade to go out and get a SFS HW98 in .177 to replace it. I was gutted after he took it then the 98 came up a few days later

and all is well in the world.

Well almost, I think I need an imp.
