slipper 116
As above is it possible to quarter a field with a spaniel at night or is the dog more likely to run in after the rabbit? Quote Link to post
wilbur foxhound 480
a long rope with a person on each end and drag it along the ground towards the long net would be more effective,wf Quote Link to post

jok 3,471
Maybe I've missed the reason for the question. In fact I must have. You have a dog that's been trained to work, quartering, flushing, sitting to shot and ultimately retreiving. This little dog responds to whistle, hand signal and voice command. Right, he or she might not see a hand signal in the dark but the other atributes are still there. Do you think a lurcher would have any of the aforementioned? Why therefore ask if a Spaniel would do any different? Only an ask. Quote Link to post
terryd 8,955
I would say there is no need to involve a dog and complicate things. Though I could understand why if you have a nice steady dog and just like spending time with it you might be tempted. I guess banting the field you may miss a squatter or two but that's not really a bad thing Quote Link to post
wilbur foxhound 480
if youre on youre own,and the ground is uneven, then a matchbox with a few small stones in it and give it a shake would do the trick,wf Quote Link to post
