New And Thinking About Taking Up Shooting...

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I'm a avid outdoor's man, Love my match fishing and used to game fish for the odd trout for the dinner table.

My father has owned a .22 break barrel rifle for years for shooting squirrels that would attack the chicken feed bins in our back garden, i have spent many a day target practice shooting with it when i was "younger" only 27 at the moment so i use the word younger loosely

looking to get into shooting again for fun mostly maybe later on rabbiting but i don't want to break the bank buying all the gear getting bored and never picking it up again.

So im joining to find out as much info as i can before i spend my wages on stuff ill never use or want to replace down the line (from looking so far like a Pump for a PCP, having read a post about bottle over pump)

So things im looking for from the fourm

any advice on:

starting guns (looking at a multi shot pcp but not set on it)

scopes

security/law on how to stay above the law and safe (trigger locks, safes, etc)

locations to shoot (ranges)

people to meet/talk/shoot with

general advice from other peoples mistakes that i can learn from

looking forward to reading your replies and hellos

Huw

Hello Huw

Have you still got the use of that springer, what is it, could you get started with that.

The more you are around air gun shooting the more you pick up.

If you go back through the old posts you will see all sorts of good stuff.

Good luck getting restarted.

Hi and welcome ,looks like you have done a bit of homework already but every day is a school day and even at my age of 50+a bit more

Right go with a dive bottle , with a pump to much foreign matter can course to many problems with your gun , i have seen it with my own eyes .

For a gun they are so many good ones ,it all depends what fits you the best but IMO you will have a job to beat HW100k Two mags plus a silencer included .

A chronograph is a must to check the power of your gun these are excellent http://www.chronoscopes.com/

Scopes once again are a personally thing ,best to have a look through as many as you can , now need to spend a lot on them with a PCP ,I use Hawke scopes they suit me better than the MTC range my mate bought a nikko sterling http://www.uttings.co.uk/p118939-nikko-stirling-panamax-3-9x50-ao-rifle-scope-npmx3950/#.ViU28MWrTIU very nice scope

If you like it and stay with it that would be money well spent but it is a lot of cash even if you say it quick.

IMO what has been recommended is spot on.

You could get that cost down with mint second hand gear that members on hear could kit you out with (shake the tree and see what falls out ).

Get all the info on the hw 100 cos there is a few different models based around the same rifle.
