Replacing A Silencer On Ticket?

Recommended Posts

1 for 1 variation and give the old one to a RFD to scrap.

Total pain and absolutely daft.

Edit

The P8 is the equivalent of the T8 and is totally strippable, and all parts available separately.

can you not just buy a new silencer and swap it over as they don't have serial numbers so the only person that knows its been swapped is you

That's what I was thinking on my ticket it just says un named silencer

Won't the dealer have filled out a form though registering the fact that you've bought one, in which case, the police will know you are in possession of 2, as 2 bought but non scrapped. (I don't know the procedure for moderators but I'm presuming if they're restricted that the dealer will have to notify the sale).

Personally, I really can't see why you shouldn't have more than 1, you can't fire a silencer, but there you go.

Moderator legislation is daft and silly involved.

If an RFD sells a proofed mod, or an un proofed mod he knows is going on a FAC firearm, then it is a firearm.

In theory your granny can walk in off the street and purchase and un proofed centrefire mod if she can convince the dealer it is for decoration only!

You cannot buy a moderator with the intention of fitting it to a FAC firearm if you don't have a slot for it.

The best strippable reflex mods i reckon are DM80s. I am gradually changing all mine over to these. They are very well made, light, seriously quiet and about half the price of most of the others that don't work that well.

A 22 airgun silencer will fit a 22 rimmy and do a good job of silencing it, if you have 3 or 4 guns with moderators who is to say which moderator belongs to what gun

We are talking about a replacement for an on ticket T8, which is currently fitted to a .243.

That isn't fitting an off ticket air rifle mod on a FAC rimfire, and the mods for those "can" be identical anyway.

Not many would want to fit an air rifle or rimfire mod on a .243.

The legal process remains the same regardless, one of the reasons I said earlier how daft the moderator legislation is!

Thanks all. Sent in a variation for a 2nd .243 moderator. I'll keep the T8 as a spare. I'm torn between the DM80 and P8 now lol.

Thanks again gent's

If you get the P8 may I suggest the COMPACT version, I converted my .223 from full length to Compact and then bought the compact for my .243 and .308.

It works just fine on all of them, although back then UK Custom Shop (Wildcat) suggested .308 was the top for the Compact and you should stick with the full afterwards.

The compact saves size and about 170g (from memory) in weight.
