Recommended Posts

I went and had me patt pup jabbed on the 21st and told the 2nd jab should be in 3 weeks which would be this Monday. Then i have to wait another week to take him out! A month!! Ffs is that ridiculous or what it used to be 2 weeks. I just rang to see if i can take him in early today but no chance. The lad needs a walk!! Big time lol hes bouncing of the walls

Always known it as 2 weeks between, then a week after the 2nd before taking out walking & it was often 10 & 12 weeks when having them, now they seem to be getting early with em.
Vet where I take mine were up for jabbing the pups at 8 week when I had them chipped but I reneged because they told me the 2nd jab would be another 4 week.

At this stage I reckon if you asked 10 vets what's the correct procedure to inoculating a pup you would get 10 different replies.

What age for first jab ?

What age for second ?

Do they need the second ?

When is it safe to bring them out ?

Do they need a yearly booster ?

It's hard to believe that for something so serious that there's nothing written in black and white.

I, personally, will continue doing what I've done for 30 years and one of those things is that once a pup is inoculated it's safe to bring it out straight away. That's if you really want to bring a 12 week old pup anywhere other than your back yard, or is that a 8 week old or 10 weeks or 14 weeks ?

Honestly I've always taken mine out after their first set of jabs and never had any problems.

Get the wee thing out just keep away from areas with loads of dog walkers

If you follow the vets advice of keeping them in for weeks you miss out on the vital first few weeks of socialisation, not worth it imo.
