trenchfoot 4,243
I've been using traps in one form or another for the last 30 years or so. I've lost count of how many creatures have fallen to them. Yet still, every time I lift the lid on a tunnel trap,or such like, and there is a catch. I still feckin' jump! Even those fixed tunnels that catch 300+ rats a year. Snares and cage traps dont even register. Is it just me? 1 Quote Link to post
Eds Pestcontrol 66
I lifted lid once and a bloody squirrel was still alive, I dont think I looked very manly lol 3 Quote Link to post
Ratmanwan 66
I remember the first stoat I trapped as an apprentice under keeper 28 years ago. It was in a tunnel that hadn't caught a thing in the month I'd built it, so really made me jump when I lifted the slate lid. I sat and looked at that stoat for a good 10 mins before I touched it. neil cooney 10,416
Yes, it's a rush alright and a bit of self satisfaction knowing you've removed another pest but the biggest thrill IMO is setting a new trap or snare, standing back and looking at it and saying he'll be in that in the morning and then in the morning he's in it. Job done to perfection. 1 Quote Link to post
Nicepix 5,650
This would have made me jump. But I knew that it had been dead for at least 24 hours: I've come across salamanders in tunnels and unless you can see their legs they look just like a snake. 1 Quote Link to post
The one 8,592
I was using mk6 fenns in a rabbit burrow and could see one had caught bent down for a look and had a stoat caught by the toes to say it was a bit pissed to see me was a understatement and it made me jump 1 Quote Link to post
