mark williams 7,568
Took the scaffold back to the farm this afternoon and noticed my AA TX 200 .177 (bagged) was in the van with me (how did it get there ?) Anyway as i pulled up i noticed a large Magpie just soaking up the sun with it`s mate on the barn roofs and neither of them took a blind bit of notice of my van rolling up. The T Rex was debagged and loaded in seconds, within the van and i very cautiously opened my door and stepped out, instantly taking a rest off the van door frame and putting the crosshairs on the biggest Magpie`s engine room, (both birds heads were behind gutters). I built my shot and tenderly squeezed off my shot sending the 8.4 grain AA Fields on it`s way. The pellet instantly struck home, approx` 35 yds away and the Magpie crumpled stone dead. Having a right old "love affair" with the T Rex, so accurate and hard hitting . atb Edited September 30, 2015 by mark williams 1 Quote Link to post

mark williams 7,568
Nice going taking an opportunity that would seem rude to turn down, the tx is a fantastic rifle and sounds like you are enjoying yours... Read many a springer report/story after buying the HW 100`s and decided after trying the T Rex down the ranges to buy the HC (hunter carbine) mk 3. I just cannot put her down ! An amazingly accurate, hard hitting springer. that i find 2nd to nothing that i have ever shot in springers in over 40 years ! I cannot recommend this springer enough in .177 mind ( for me) . Rez 4,961
In other news, and I've wondered this before, I'd of thought you might of stuck with HW with the amount of affection you have for the 100. The way they've built, or designed the HW100, Did you considerd staying with the same manufacturer? After all, in a peculiar way, it's like cars, we buy into a brands. Did you try any HW manual powered jobs? With all respect to your shooting skills mark, as you'll know, but I've always found AA springers easier to shoot accurately from the start. Might you stick with the HC or move on do you think? 1 Quote Link to post
mark williams 7,568
The HW 100 KT .177 gets used "more than" the T Rex, especially on the little or no movement/ noise shooting such as hides and corvids.I would not get the shot with the cocking of a springer (but that is me),- do remember though, i like to shoot close, real close. (As much as i possibly can) Yep tried quite a few springers down the ranges Rez but just loved the mk3 T Rex .177. With regards to AA springers being easier to shoot accurately from the start ? I`ve not noticed or heard that one before . Stick with the HC or move on ? Well i`m very happy indeed with the results i am getting with the T Rex , so no , she really is a keeper. One thing about the T Rex that has really impressed me is that when she is on "quality shooting sticks like Primos" the accuracy in short or long range work is amazing. As i`ve said, she is right up there with my 100`s Davey T63 put me onto the Mamba Lite 3-12x44 SCB scope for this rifle, coupled with her weight, she is absolutely rock steady on quality sticks. atb Edited October 3, 2015 by mark williams 1 Quote Link to post
