villaman 9,982
Yesterday I decided to dust of my BSA Meteor .22 and have a shoot with it . The first thing I noticed with it was the trigger ,my god so hard to pull compared to the triggers of today . Went to my 30 yard marker knelt down , took aim ,pulled trigger and pellet hit dead on bull ,i thought must be a lucky shot , so did exactly the same the next shot ,in the end put 10 pellets in side of a 10 pence bit , not bad for a gun which is 41 years old and my first gun didnt have to adjust the sight either Brought back some great times shooting the meteor again , that gun will go to my grave with me ,when ever that may be 7 Quote Link to post

Bloody roll back the years 3 Quote Link to post

Rimfireboy! 1,463
I dug my old .177 Vulcan out last year, had a few shots and put it back away. Never shot it since because it is so snappy and harsh to fire it makes me wonder how I ever used to hit anything with it, and it's shot loads back in the day. I wouldn't part with it though. Had it new in 1979. My memories of it are somehow better than the reality. 1 Quote Link to post
mark williams 7,568
From 9 to 25 yrs old we all used to shoot on the huge open tip and very large lake. I`ve never forgot that summer of 1976,- we were taking turns shooting a massive oak sitty tree, me with my deadly .22 mercury (or so i used to think), Big Bird with his Diana G , and Garf` with his brand new .22 Mercury. All afternoon potting starlings as they were vermin then. On Garf`s turn an enormous carrion crow landed ( fathered a ter, terow, terry, - fecking flying dinosaur ) and he went and missed ! from 15 yards ! Poor lad spent many a ruined night in the village pub for years after that when we got pissed . We used to collect scrap metal also and on leaving school i was earning less money as an apprentice. I saved up for a FWB Sport 127, and shot that exclusively until buying the HW 100`s 2 yrs ago. Wonderful guns FWB. Memories Edited September 16, 2015 by mark williams 4 Quote Link to post
