Out With The In Laws

Recommended Posts

Taking the Mrs' old man out on the pigeons with decoys tomorrow. First time we'll of been out together. Don't know how to approach it... I don't really like shooting in partners, I like to be on my own. I'm a bit OCD when it comes to how I like things set up, especially when it comes to being in the fields, but don't really want to be telling him what to do. We'll be decoying the birds to a sh*t heap in a stubble field I've noticed gets quite a bit of attention late afternoon. I know the location is good for double figures if I was on my own.

I don't really know what this post is about. Do I get a grip of things and be instructive, or do I let him go about how he wants? He's into his shooting, kinda, nothing on my own level, he owns a full length 410 .177 with Q-Tec, so the equipment isn't an issue and he bought it brand spank on my recommendation. He'll turn up in a green jacket which will do my head in from the start, as I like my nato pattern and so on.

Anyone been in this situation?

I hate partnerships when hunting with air rifles, just two people is TWICE the noise, movement, etc, etc. Still its done now Rez, you`re taking the gentleman out .

Rez, just enjoy it mate   act like a beater for the day and let him have most of the shots and youll be surprise how much enjoyment you can get from showing him the ropes   ps itll get you more b

lol...already thinking to much into it...relax.... and go decoying, don't act the sheriff and most of all don't act the bear grylls and enjoy it..... if you get a shot or 2 so be it if you don't grin and bear it but youll both have a better idea of each other by the end of the day that's for sure with fresh air and exercise thrown into the mix!

You sound real OCD get a grip, take him out and just be pleased for him no matter the outcome.

If you have to have a big bag to enjoy a day out then I really feel sorry for you, as your life will be full of disappointments. Take him out, leave your gun at home and simply enjoy the day for what it is. (No matter what colour coat he is wearing.)

Calm down. f**k sake. It's was a post in jest. I like my shooting and I like being out, I've just never really been out in partnerships before, especially with the in laws.

Leave my gun at home. Ha. :D

Still its done now Rez, you`re taking the gentleman out  .

If your gun is going with you tell him to sit silent and take consecutive shots, (if) as and when they occur.

"Make very sure he does not better you" ! :nono: If he does better you, "Make very sure the lads on here don`t find out" :haha:

Me and Sean (vislauk) have shot together for years but its not very often we walk together we split as soon as we have our zeros set he go,s one way and me the other .

But when we do walk together its good as we both know how to be quiet and hunt as a team

I would not be with out him
