Counting Crow (Again).

Recommended Posts

Took the AT 44 out as I am trialling an ammo change. Trying H&N FTT and they grouped well. In fact they grouped well from the off and I had it re-zeroed in under 1 magazine.

I decided to try some flying vermin shooting so hid myself in the woods and waited. I tried stalking some pigeons but they were nervous and at the merest hint of movement were giving it wings and afterburners.

After awhile there was a cawing and at the top of the highest tree a crow landed. I lined a shot through the branches of the tree I was using as cover, through the branches of 2 trees and up to the top of the tree. Satisfied the shot line was clear I pulled the trigger. There was a muted caw and the crow did a passable impression of a pinball as it bounced from branch to branch before hitting the deck with a satisfying thud!

Nice shot I thought to myself as I then heard the 5 coo call I was waiting for. 25 metres away, up a tree, sat a nice fat woodie! I used the foliage as cover and managed to get a bead on the head. More cooing meant that this was an amourous avian! I decided to send it a nice FTT. Precise strike and end of attempted coo!

More waiting followed then a flutter announced that across the woodland another one had landed. I turned and made my way under the branches and got a nice shot. I took it and the FTT struck home. 3 for 3! Not bad at all!
