johnny boy68 11,726
well you did say it just you an your bible, no absolution no sacrament of penance......no heavenThat's the catholic way Dave, I do it Jesus way, be born again spiritually, when you accept Jesus, an repent, its a free gift of God, not works, lest any man boast. What happens to the non religious people, do they just hang about in purgatory? That's another catholic teaching, there's no mention of it in the bible mate. What if you don't repent or accept Jesus, where do they go? Believers get accepted into heaven but what about non believers?I think you know the answer to that mate. So your saying they'll go to hell, what if these people have led good lives but don't except the lord? What is a good life, good depends on who you asked, Hitler thought he done good, ex prime ministers thought they done good, invading other countries, the RSPCA thought they done good, Brian may thinks he done good, what is good to you johnny, do you beleive in sins?No I don't believe in sins per se, people can be good and people can be evil.I believe in treating people right and teaching my kids right from wrong, I think my kids are well rounded and respectful and we have no mention of God/Jesus or any other deity in my house. I expect you'll say I'm leading my life according to the commandments but I'm not I'm leading it the way I see fit. The commandments are just morals dressed up as the Lords word imo. Bo Duke 420
Evolution is a theory and it speaks to me I can see how it happened I can understand it and it makes perfect sense. It's beautiful and awe inspiring. But its not scientific really is it, not testable or observable is it. Before we go any further, whats your definition of evolution, we done hundreds of pages before about this, round an round, I think cause we had different notions of it, an I wouldn't be arsed to do that again. Which one do you want to discuss mate I don't really have any desire to discuss any, you've got your imaginary friend and your historical stories from shepherds and men of the desert and no amount of contrary evidence will change your beliefs. I have a completely open mind and will except evidence as it comes and if something new comes to light I will change my outlook. I live a very good life and probably could get into heaven if it exists apart from the fact that I do mix fabrics when dressing, work on Sundays and I also once ate a prawn but didn't like it, but given the option I wouldn't want it, I have no desire to spend eternity in a celestial North Korea.
Francie 6,368
Respect to you johnny. Here's the thing, most people don't see were in coming from with this. Good an evil, who decides, my last post I was trying to show, that different people will have different opinions, who's right an who wrong What is your standard, your authority on good an evil, right an wrong, are you the decision maker on this, which I think you are, well that's what other people think as well, they deceide themselves. But here's the paradox, who has the last say on good an evil, right an wrong, in the secular world, the president, prime minister, gov, the popstar, how can you say that other people's right an wrong, good an evil are wrong, when there's not absolute. Eg, bank robbers, think it's OK to rob banks,,,do you,,,why not?,,,,, people like to shoot lions,,,,is it wrong who says so? The list is endless, Anything can be argued, right an wrong in the secular world, might makes right, no one can say who's right an wrong when it comes to evolution Survival of the fittest, an all that....
