Well done to Chris Froome . Looks like he's going to win the Tour de France for the second time , and will go down in history as one of our sporting greats . But the guy has had to put up with some crap from spectators , just watched him being spat at , he's been punched and had piss thrown over him . If morons like that think he will curl up into a ball and give up they are wrong , it will only make him more determined . Because he is a true Brit , and unlike our "friends " from over the channel , he won't wave a white flag and surrender the minute the going gets tough . Go on Chris , they don't like it up em !

Yeah. There has been a lot if allegations of drugs use flying around.   On a separate note, I read Lance's autobiography 'It's not about the bike' in 2008. I'm not what you could call a cycling fan

Was he the one lance Armstrong had the audacity to imply was on drugs?

On a separate note, I read Lance's autobiography 'It's not about the bike' in 2008. I'm not what you could call a cycling fan, or even a sports fan, but I really really enjoyed it.

He became a bit of a hero of mine and I was absolutely devastated when hr admitted doping...

Armstrong isn't fit to to be a steward at a bike race , let alone have an opinion worth listening to . A cheat and a fraud . Kids looked up to him and he let them all down .

Yeah Armstrong is a bit of a dick. Would b nice to see froome take a test to prove him wrong. Don't see why 1st,2nd and 3rd of every race in all sports don't take tests as soon as it's over anyway

I can't see a problem with that either , if you are clean it wouldn't be a problem . And it would shut up the sceptics .

Froome's a real sporting champion, and most cyclist's deserve the recognition they get. The dedication from these guys is unbelievable and they can be found in winter training for the following years tour at the foot of the Pyranees and Alps, such is their training schedule. I've great respect for such athletes, it's the few wrong 'uns that bring disgrace to their sport. Well done Froome

The man is a total sociopath.....his will to win was total , at the expense of everything and everybody......he would allow nothing to stand in his way.

Even his approach to doping was the best that has ever been seen in sport......ever !!

Let's not forget he was beating the top ranked triathletes in the US when he was 16 !!..........he is no doubt one horrible f****r but a lot of sportsmen could learn a thing or two from his mental attitude IMHO

Ye I heard their training is intense. Someone will correct me if I'm wrong but I heard on the radio before that with all the training they do their heart enlarges, and with that when they retire they have to keep up a training schedule for life to cope with the physical problems that comes from extreme training

a winning mental attitude counts for nothing if you cheat . If you cheat and get away with it , that's one thing , you are cheating yourself . But if you cheat and you are found out , you loose everything , respect and honour , without which a victory has no meaning .

The thing to remeber is, every other f****r was doping too when Armstrong won those TDF so it's not like it wasn't a level playing field......he just took it too another level.

I still say, his mind set was second to none......from a sporting perspective.

Can't see how or why the heart enlarges, but it works very hard over a long time/distance which can obviously put extreme pressure on the heart ...It might become more efficient over time. Lemond and others don't do anything specific to counter what they did years ago. Froomes resting heart rate is 28 bpm, the average for a man at his age, 30 years old, is 71. His max is 168 and the average for a man his age is 190, so his heart does not have to work as hard. He also has a massive lung capacity. Miguel Indurain had a resting heart rate of something like 26 beats a minute plus his lungs were freaks of nature!

I seen on the telly last night that Froomes team won't reveal his full stats for the scientists to take a look at.......I know nothing about professional cycling, so can those of you who do tell me if there is a good reason they won't ?
