Can A Hw 100 In .22

Recommended Posts

Saturday morning debate by David Dimberley Evans eh ?:tongue2:

I`m in the same boat as VM lads - i too use both and both short rifles to boot (hides).

My preference as you know is .177 as it allows me to thread shots through spindle and such like. If i am shooting open areas the HW 100 ks .22 is a devastatingly accurate rifle but i do practice my milldots on a regular basis.

So it`s each to their own i suppose but a nudge to .177 for night shooting especially (but that`s just me).

Hope it helps any.

But i can do this with 22 and often do when im on the crows

YOU NO YOUR RIGHT THERE BOTH AS GOOD AS EACH OTHER

but its still 22 for me

just because i cant shoot 177 for shit lol

I had a read of that vm, iv also done my own testing all be it a bit simpler that that one. You are correct 6ftlb at the target is 6ftlb at the target but 6ftlb with a little hammer will hurt less th

Mitch please let me know the outcome of the 7.9 express mate - cheers.

Mac 28yds is "middle or central stitch "

35 yds is "one stitch up"

40 yds is " 0ne and a half stitches up"

The rest is " out of fecking range":tongue2:

Can a hw100 in .22 take down rabbits at the same distance as a .177 and what are the pro's and con's of the long rifle and the short version ?.

I will stick my neck out now and say ,if you are going to use it at night go for .177 ks or kt , reason being range at night and with a shorter gun less likley to get knocked

Thats my oppinion and many other to  , But you could still go for a .22 :laugh::laugh:

sorry to confuse vwman but mac is correct .22 does hit harder.

Power is not as simple as the ft lb reading that's just the velocity at the muzzle.

a .22 running exactly the same power as a .177 in ft lb at the muzzle and identical pellets just bigger the .22 will retain more power down range due to the ballistic coefficient being roughly 25% better.

larger pellet holds more energy down range, heavier pellets carry more momentum even in the same power

either way both are capable if you can put the pellet where it counts

A topic named "salad farm" featured a great thread from VM and energy retention down range.

Basically an Air Arms 7.9 grain pellet shits all over all others in every dep`t, even a 10.3 grain jumbo.

Take a look for yourselves,- i am seriously thinking of going to 7.9 express with my rifles.

Here go all the excuses now TC but , but , but , but , but 177 is but, but, but but :tongue2:
