DanRaistrick 53
I had issues with my old Saluki cross bitch, both barking and behavioural problems which drove me mad. I'd tried everything with her and the only thing which stopped her barking as much was an anti-bark collar, although as soon as it was taken off she would start again. When she was out she was an absolute nightmare and it got to the point I really hated taking her anywhere. The bitch never really bonded well with me, which was partly my own fault due to me getting frustrated with her easily when she would run off after other dogs and generally wouldn't do as I said (recall, retrieval etc). In the end (after 3 years) I decided it was best to rehome her as the bond was what I deemed irreparable with the bitch being very highly strung and stubborn. After around 6/7 months of looking for a new home (and turning down countless numpties) she went to a lad the next town over who'd had some experience with lurchers and saluki crosses. He decided to keep her inside which turned out to be the best thing for her, she formed a good bond with the new owner and her bad traits slowly and surely improved. When I rehomed her, my Deerhound Greyhound bitch was quite 'whingey' for a few weeks, due to not being used to being kennelled alone, but after a few weeks of off and on e-collar use she got used to it and quietened down. I found plenty of pigs lugs and bones helped to keep her quiet and any anxieties she was previously barking over quickly changed to a chew on her bone/toys. Quote Link to post

mushroom 13,540
its hardly running if he always waiting for the imp on skates to catch up is it lol I am amazed at the power, speed and endurance of this git. I was out yesterday on the skates with the mrs and she had hold of him. I sped off ahead and called him to chase me. Not only did he pull her along to nearly full speed he closed the distance and overtook me with no more effort than he uses to lick his balls. Quote Link to post
