PaulJC 14
Apart from having Tea/Coffee available This is my first SGC grant application, i don't yet have any security fitted and will be seeking advice on that from him tomorrow and will do as recommended and i have been asked to get a medical letter from my Dr's following some Depression/PTSD which i was treated for a fair while ago and i'm still waiting for that all though i have phoned them today to chase it up... Will it be just a case of going through my application? Will there be any shooting related questions etc? I'm mostly looking to shoot clays but would also like to check out other parts of the the sport too... I'm just wondering really what to expect really... Thanks in advance for any replies Paul Quote Link to post
hutchey 147
Be totally honest, they know and can find out anything......... Do some research and know a bit about what you might like to shoot (clays, rabbits, pigeons or whatever) Careful here though as there are conditions on some species. Security, Common Sense, more common sense and a further dose of common sense job done all being well. Quote Link to post
Tremo 138
What Hutchey says. Oh, and make sure to leave out sentences that include phrases such as "home defence" and such like! . You laugh, but I have indeed heard this said! ATB Quote Link to post
airbourne 128
yeah and don't bring zombies into the conversation i read that some one said they are getting ready for the zombie apocalypse ticket refused i wonder why. i would of had my cabinet in place before they came, would of saved time. Don't worry about the depression i have had it, its part of life, as long has you have not tried to take your own life. Just be your self there are no trick questions. ATB Quote Link to post

SportingShooter 0
And obviously you will be the only one with access to any of the firearms held, no one else will know where your keys are apart from you. Quote Link to post

PaulJC 14
Well it's all done, i'd worked the nightshift last night and arranged to meet him at home for when i got in... Nothing unexpected, no trick questions... And only one cup of tea As you guys have said above he just worked through my application really, experience i have, what i want the SGC for, who i live with, security while in and out of the house etc. Spent a while going through my Dr's letter to give him the info of events etc, I know originally i was thinking of trying to get issue without a cabinet but having thought about it i don't do anything by halves so we discussed my security plans if granted and he's happy for a cabinet to be in my (very easy to access) loft coach bolted to the rafters and advised me to buy a cabinet bigger than i think i'll need lol Then we spent the rest of the time mostly discussing the state of emergency services today, he's police obviously, i'm an EMT for the Ambulance service in the same area so we had a good old natter about that. Genuinely nice guy, handshake on the way out the door and expect to hear in about 3 weeks once reviewed so fingers crossed, he'll then give me a call, tell me to sort out security, and he'll come visit and check it out when done. Cant say i'm anything but impressed by the service so far, thanks for all your input, it was definitely nothing to be worried about 1 Quote Link to post
Alsone 789
Glad it went well but never trust them. Just remember they aren't your friends, most would prosecute you at the drop of a hat. Be courteseous and pleasant but always cautious. Quote Link to post
