We went out the last night of term Friday as i reckonded after there last exam most of the students would be heading home and the uni would be quiet and ive a month of peace and quiet shooting the grounds them 600 itailan kids desend to learn english for the summer . After i booked in it was pretty quiet and there wasn't many rabbits about and at 3.30 am i called the police to stop the job number and we had a round dozen . Back at work sunday night and theres rabbits galour whats happening ?

 

I always thought rabbits where colour blind but my cars black and the minute some see it they scarper and i thought fair enough somebody might be poaching the extermes of the grounds .

but the works 4x4s white and they sit still most dont move till your level with them and a air pistol would get you a good bag

 

Ive even tried driving round with side lights to see if its the lights driving round slowy that spooks them and that made a diffrence a couple of times then back to normal , my son says dont put the light on i will shoot it with out it and that helps as sometimes they act lamp shy but other times they just sit there till they meet there maker and we swap the filter round ever lap and i believe that helps

 

When im at work i saw lots of younger rabbits out and about and i thought leave it till the end of term and there as good as mine i should get a good bagfull last friday it was 12 adult rabbits not a youngster in sight

 

Its a funny old game this trying to get a few rabbits isnt it

Me and vis thought our perm was fecked then on the way out after we had packed every thing away the little feckers were waving us off lol

 

Then when you go back there all over the place there some times out in day light so you go in day light nothing and once again there waving you off

 

So you go a little later the next time and only get one or two then nothing about we have gone out at different times some good some not

 

We went out one night and got twelve then nothing about so we went back out a few hours later early morning and got another twelve so that was 24 all together so we hit it early morning for a few week ends then nothing not a thing about so we switched to nights again and so had the rabbits loads of them about

 

But then nothing they no when we are coming so they switch when they feed thats what i think any way lol

The guys in the van where giving me loads of stick " thought you where a rabbit trapper there's hundreds out there tonite and you where out on Friday "LOL , just done a cuircut the now and there's a good few showing even loads of fryers , but it's usually at one am it's like somebody turns a key and there allowed out to play , I'm fifty odd the now and I still don't understand this game

I feel sorry for the Italian students going to jockland to learn "English".

 

I don't know if our intended quarry is colourblind, but they do seem to know the difference between driving/walking round and hunting.

We dont have anything to do with them mate , they only come here because all the class rooms and accomadation is empty all summer , in truth they muck up four months shooting on 500 acres of prime rabbit ground

See when you get 30 or 40 of them in a corridor why do they feel the need to shout at each other is it a kid thing or italian

Shouldnt laugh but last year they had paint gun's we had a orange and pink and yellow swan , we caught them and conificated the paint guns but the powers that be gave them back to them at the airport and they just had to put them in bins

They can be tricky buggers at times,used to control them round a lake and if you crept round,however you tried,lights on/off,fast/slow whatever,they would shift into the undergrowth just out of a good shot you know? But drive round like normal and they'd let you drive right by them sometimes,would of had more joy running the sodding things over! But its part of the fun though,trying to out think a rabbit and finding a tactic which gives us a few shots...
