calcium they will eat eggs if she is calcium deprived after laying. cock will do it so he gets to tread the hen again. so make sure they have cuttel fish bone in cage and slip a divider in so the hen can see the cock but he cant get to the nest.

I used to make sure mine had oyster grit and a bit of conditioning seed too. I always left the cock with the hen, never had any problems. Not with the canaries anyway, but had plenty of problems with the british! lol :D
