gnasher16 31,602
How would a nest with 5 Canary eggs go down to 4 eggs overnight with no remains of a 5th egg anywhere in the cage ?

fireman 11,533
Worth watching the cock isn't jumping in there wand eating them while she's off having a leg/wing stretch etc as well or even another bird altogether if there in with others..
gnasher16 31,602
They,re in a breeding cage so maybe worth taking the cock bird away you reckon ?
fireman 11,533
Put in a wire devider so he can still see her etc and once they've hatched let him back in and he might well help to feed them..
stevemac 449
calcium they will eat eggs if she is calcium deprived after laying. cock will do it so he gets to tread the hen again. so make sure they have cuttel fish bone in cage and slip a divider in so the hen can see the cock but he cant get to the nest. J Darcy 5,871
I used to make sure mine had oyster grit and a bit of conditioning seed too. I always left the cock with the hen, never had any problems. Not with the canaries anyway, but had plenty of problems with the british! lol
