What Gunsafe To Buy?

Recommended Posts

Great thanks guys. I'll get the biggest they sell.

The only question I have left is would this safe http://www.djsproducts.com/product/79-rifleshotgun-extra-deep-standard-security-cabinet-with-lock-top-gb79dlt/ be tall enough for silenced shotguns (I heard they're extra long) even including the ammo box up top. Or should I go for the one without internal ammo box for the extra length. (cost difference is not big enough to make a difference)

I have narrowed it down to the BSA 8 gun extra deep (which is the biggest they do I believe) or the brattonsound RL7 which is again the biggest they do I was told.

Does anyone have any input on which of these to go for? The BSA is a bit cheaper and has space for more guns... is there a reason Brattonsound are more popular than BSA?

Brattonsound Titans are the biggest Brattonsound do - come in 10 and 20 gun I believe. However, significant jump in price - I think the 10 gun is around £500 - make more sense to buy 2 x 8 gun!

BSA safe looks superb for the money. Doesn't look like you'll get a silenced shotgun in either though as both use barrel retaining foam, probably have to remove the silencer or if built in, cut the barrel retaining foam to the silencer diameter.

Just looking at the picture, assuming those are 30" shotguns, looks like length capacity is 32" max barrel length.

Be a good idea to check though before ordering and also maybe get some spare barrel retaining foam as an extra (that way if you ever sell the silenced shotgun, you can return the safe to the original 8 gun format).

Only difference I can see is the Brattonsound is narrower with a narrower but slightly taller top compartment and the BSA is wider with a wider but slightly shorter top compartment.

Personally, I prefer the extra width and finish on the BSA so that's where my money would go especially at that price! (BSA's a bit of a bargain in my opinion).

I doubt there's much to choose between them in security terms.

BTW Winchester and Browning do some large safes, but again they're expensive as they are proper vault style safes with shelves and huge capacities. Not 100% sure you can source them in the UK and probably above your budget I'd imagine:

There seems to be a law in nature that states no matter how big your gun cabinet, the fecker will be filled within 6 months!

In light of this realisation I'm going to go against convention and suggest you buy the smallest you can! Your bank balance will thank you!
