bigmac 97kt 13,825
Got to daz39 ,s perm for 9,30 ish daz was all ready lay,d up i went over to see him then went and paced out the markers , set the ground sheet out and lay,d up i lay there for about 20 mins when the first one came out to play but it was about yards away so i just lay there watching it but then some thing spooked it and off it went , As i lay there i could hear das,s rifle going off and i thought he must be having a good night the cold was setting in so after a while i went back to the tank for a drink and some thing to eat . On the way back to my lay up spot i scanned the field and saw one in the hedge line so with a kneeling shot i let loos and over it went but could i feck find it i must of looked for half an hour but to no avail ,i then came across the next one i storked up on it and the same shot again but this time it was out in the open so kneeling i let a bis mag go and it rolled over dead ,well chuffed i went and lay down took a few more shots at some but missed. As i lay there daz came over but i did not hear him until he was nearly on top of me i nearly jumped out of my skin lol daz had one to so it was one each he called it a night and as we were skinning the rabbits the rozzers pulled up ill let daz tell you about that so only the one but David and vm im getting there bud and i did not need the markers after all just good old fashioned storking atvbmac  2 Quote Link to post

Daz39 962
Shooting Mac. Is the rifle on the left yours ? atb He's ALWAYS banging on asking for a go..... 1 Quote Link to post
Daz39 962
Good night last night. Mac did turn up at 9:30, but at the WRONG part of the perm! He'd told me one spot, so I went and waited for him....must be his age. It was a mixed night rabbit wise. After zeroing, I lay up perpendicular again....it's a skill I have....I spotted a rabbit off to my left 30-35 yrds, so I moved the 100 & Viper round took a clean head shot, it knocked the rabbit off its feet, rolled over, did a couple of kicks then lay still. I turned the NV off and got up to go get it. I headed where I thought I had seen it, but could I find it? could I shite. The grass isn't even 1", lord knows where it went, but I watched it get blown away and lay dead. I went back and shot 2 more rabbits. 1 big back flip into brambles/hedge row, another again knocked backwards by the pellet (that thwack you get with a head shot) but again I couldn't find the damn things. The one "other" thing with NV, a lamp you put on the rabbit and keep it on it when you go pick up. The NV I turn off then can't walk in a fecking straight line to pick the rabbit up! As Mac said last night, you think the rabbit is at X yrds and it is at Y yrds....grrr. Really annoyed I went back to the car and re-checked my scope. I had zero'ed on x12 as I always do for day shooting, then with the NV on, I turned it down to x8 - I didn't think this would be an issue, but my zero was a good few clicks low and left versus where I had put it 1 hour before. Not sure if I have knocked it setting up the NV rig (I don't zero with the NV on, but might try that next week). Any how, I went off again, I'd robbed 3 of Mac's markers and this time went parallel to the hedge line. The markets lit up brilliantly at 30-40-50 yrds. Pretty soon 3 rabbits came out....all BEYOND the 50 yrd marker and I didn't want to take the risk so left them. As it happened, there was a blat of Mac's scorpion and they ran. Not long after another came out and I figured it was between the 30 & 40 markers to put the crosshair bang on and pop, he rolled over. This time I watched him for a good few seconds to make sure he was not going anywhere. He didn't even kick, just rolled over. I walked over and he was at 40 yrds, no mil dot needed, right behind the eye. It was about 1:30am by now so I walked over to Mac. Now, he and Visla are always banging on about how noisy I am, well, I walked up to Mac (about 60 yards away from me), stood over him and he didn't know I was there!!! He looked right and almost shat himself haha. I shouldn't do that to an awld fella, but I know CPR. As we were skinning the rabbits, Mac goes, ah, rozzers are here. Now this perm is right next to a main road, and we park up opposite a garage. I went over to talk with the rozzer while Mac was elbow deep in rabbit guts, flinging kidneys and lungs all over the place. I gave the copper the log number and he called it in. All perfect and correct. Mac walks over with a skinned rabbit dangling in front of him and the woman copper went a funny colour haha. The fella says, "I saw two bloody big lads, in camo, at 2 in the morning, with guns....I thought here we go"..... haha Lesson for you all, CALL IT IN!!!!! 5 Quote Link to post

Dr B 186
Hey guys, might be nice to explain the procedure of log numbers, etc when out shooitng / lamping. I for one, have never done it, but the land i have to shoot, i rarely lamp, and its very far out of the way so never had an issue (so far!!). Anyway, what is your general procedure whenever you go shooting and particularly, lamping. Apologies if this is off-topic for the thread. Quote Link to post
bigmac 97kt 13,825
Hey guys, might be nice to explain the procedure of log numbers, etc when out shooitng / lamping. Anyway, what is your general procedure whenever you go shooting and particularly, lamping. Apologies if this is off-topic for the thread. Right Jason all you do is phone 101 and ask to be put through to control tell them you require a log no, as you are going shooting they will ask your name , where you are shooting, what your car reg is and what you will be shooting with IE air rifles, shot guns,or fac rifles, they will then give you a log no IE, 1243 or so on then you can be on your way some ask what time you may be finished , at the end of your night or days shooting phone them back and give them the log no, saying you are dune and on your way home i do this as it covers you going to and coming back in your car so if im stopped i can just give them the log no, and it helps as to why you have a rifle in your car and armed response is not called out to some guy in a car with a sniper rifle lol or if some one dose see you in a field with a rifle and plod turn up hope this helps atvbmac  Edited February 13, 2015 by bigmac 97kt Quote Link to post
