Alsone 789
I think you also need concealed anti jemmy hinges on the list. Quote Link to post

SportingShooter 0
Put it this way Daz, A normal cabinet is designed to be "20 minute proof" before either being stolen or broken open. If you think along those lines, then if you can better that it should be fine. A few questions. Are there any windows to the pantry? Is the whole thing made of brick and concrete, I.e. the ceiling as well? If you look at some cabinet makers, they can make and install vault doors to gun rooms. It may also be an idea to fit a gun cable that will further secure the guns inside. Like you see in gunshops. Quote Link to post
Alsone 789
If you look at some cabinet makers, they can make and install vault doors to gun rooms. It may also be an idea to fit a gun cable that will further secure the guns inside. Like you see in gunshops. My feeling as well. I would have though the answer here would be to get the police to inspect the pantry and approve it in principle subject to a satisfactory door being fitted (and any other identified weaknesses being addressed such as the ceiling) Then the easiest approach would be to approach a safe door manufacturer with the dimensions and request a custom built door / frame to fit that complies with the hinge / anti jemmy / lock regulations when fitted. As for cost, if you're trying to save money, I suspect that buying a small / medium cabinet is cheaper. If you want the equivalent of a huge cabinet or small gun room, then it maybe economic. However, I suspect a large door / frame with relevant hinges etc will be in the several hundred pound bracket, but that's only as a guess and presuming self fitting. Unless you know someone who's had one made, you really need to get some quotes as it's very difficult to guess fabrication and delivery costs. If you have access to steel for the door, and can source the special hinges and a compliant lock and can weld / construct a frame that can be rawl bolted into the wall, then self fabrication may be an option. Personally I'd think long the lines of fixing a normal pantry style door to the front of whatever steel door you get for aesthetic and concealment reasons. Daz Yes and it has very many advantages. The requirements and answers to your questions are laid out in the HO Firearms Security Handbook, section 29. https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/117636/firearms-security-handbook.pdf 2 Quote Link to post
