bird 10,014
I think shouting at her or even hitting her is the wrong thing to do as you will never have her trust to come back. Put her on a lead for a while and gain your trust and bond with her, the odd bit of cooked sausage now and again to remind her you are worth staying around can help. 100% , ive done it and ok it makes you feel better at the time, but long term its no good as the dog wont trust you, and its a up hill clime when a dog scared of you . as been said still go out with the pack , so the other dogs get exercise , but you deff got to take it out on its own , and keep it on the lead , it wont need to run about because done that before with the other dogs, just talk to it stroke it and give it the above, let it get to like you I had big prob withBuck my younger dog , he was totally bonded to Bryn, and he still is really , but I had to walk him on his own every day for 1 hour, I done the above it paid off big time . he still keep a eye on Bryn , but he looks for me all the while as well , you seen him out and he was up for anything that day we went for a mooch, but his recall was great Quote Link to post
albert64 1,882
I've always broke my dog on its own, no distractions, it wont pick up bad habits off other dogs only you for it to concentrate on, and some dogs learn to hang back and let others do the work but it will pass its just a fase they go through Quote Link to post
socks 32,253
That's what happens when you buy a shit hancock lol .... As has been said you need the one on one with a pup and develop a strong bond which makes the recall second nature ... It's all good for fitness and muscle building running around with a pack but the downside is that obedience takes a back seat as no matter what you want to do playing with its doggie mates will always win ... I have got a very good bond with my current pup and when we are out and about and meet people or other dogs she does the usual puppy thing of running up ass wagging like a nutter and wanting to meet everybody ...but she always has one eye on me and when I get about 10 meters away she is at my side like a shot ... When I have all the dogs out I only have to call her name once and bang she turns on her heels and is back to me ... The only way to achieve this is to get that one on one bond with the pup ......... 4 Quote Link to post
Wales1234 5,674
Yeaa don't think the bonds there at the moment with her always being with the pack think she's looking for them instead of me Quote Link to post

Wales1234 5,674
She's not really food associated she doesn't scoff her food just picks at it !! I tried little sausages before but she had just been fed just bought a bit of chicken bites and a tennis size ball that bounces and get her out straight after work in the garden have a play walk her on the lead down to my house ( kennels are up my uncles ) and drive back up and play again Quote Link to post
johnharris 177
I keep a pup in the house with me until it wants to be near me all the time, then it gets introduced to the others, usually works Quote Link to post
