Thoughts On This Rifle

Looks a bit cheap imo. However, I have been one to be judging a book by its cover only to take it all back. Maybe in this case, its not the looks, its what it can do.

Love the reflex mod thing going on as a second thought.

And if you get the tuning kit for it, do a bit of polishing, and a proper lube, it will be smoooooth as, think that would make a very nice rifle, with a bit of elbow grease  the machining looks good, 2 stage trigger  and a proper barrel catch arangement, like a hw, not a bloody steel pin like BSA still insist on using.

But the Hammerli side lever you used in the 70s was not made in China, as you say they were not that powerful, but the build quality was very good, and if memory serves, were a swiss company, owned now I believe by Norica in Spain. That black thing in the video, is made in China, uuuuur.

Hmm, I didn't realise that. I probably wouldn't go for that then. I used to like the old German stuff like BSF, Feinwerkbau, Weihrauch's etc.

I don't think you can hold the fact that it's made in China against it. So much is these days, after all !

My first rifle was a Stoeger - I may be wrong on the exact details, but it's something like made in Turkey, to a Chinese design while Stoeger itself is owned by Benelli which is in turn owned by Beretta. (Confused ? Me too !)

True, Chinese made stuff is probably a lot better than it used to be. I've got a Chinese co2 gas rifle and for the price I paid, it's fairly good. It works well enough anyway for what it is.

Ahhhh BSF now you are talking, it still makes me go all misty eyed, when I think about my tuned BSF b55 Bavaria I had in the 80s, if there is one air rifle I wish I had never sold, that is the one, I killed dozens and dozens of squirrels, pigeons, and a good few bunnies with that rifle, I would buy one tomorrow if it came up.

Those BSF's were well engineered. I had a custom B55 and sold it in the early nineties to help fund a Theoben sirocco, which I still have. I wish I still had the BSF as well though. Of all the airguns I've had and sold over the years, that's the one that I most regret selling and I'd buy another one in a heartbeat. Fond memories of the best 'mechanical' air rifle I've owned and I know that if I still had it now, it would still be as sweet as ever.

Totally agree mate, brilliant rifles, I traded mine in for a Sharp innova I think, due to them being all the rage in our little shooting group :cray:I will get another B55 one day, and go to town on it, a full tune, trigger job, barrel chop screwcut and moderator, and maybe a custom stock, I reckon Sandwell field sports could transform one into a similar package as the HW99 Imp, which is probably as close as you can get in a modern rifle, I honestly do think I shot more stuff with my BSFthan with my .22 rimfire, it was a belter.
