The Pups First Night Lamping... Cracking Night

Well decided to have a lamp with duke as he's shown me he is capable of catching rabbit on the lamp now.... had a cracking night it took a slip or 2 to get going and he caught a squatter which he dropped and it escaped... never mind its his first one... tried a field on the way home which is perfect for a few bunnies... he caught 4 out of 5 runs on this patch and they were excellent catches he even caught one in cover, his retrieve isn't the best but he bring them close enough, with more encouragement and less distraction he should get the hang of it soon enough... all in all I couldn't fault him, he done really well for his first night ever on the lamp at 8 1/2 months and im over the moon... REW put the videos of his catches up mate.... cheers for looking guys

good work lad,but the dogs a bit young imo he bones,muscles,an tendons,arent even hardened yet,very easy to get injured at that age,especially running so fast,after bunnies,not worth it imo atb

Good going, take your time and work on the retrieve, a few quality runs and retrieves is what's needed with a youngster rather than going for numbers.

i know hes still young guys cheers... but I do think he is physically and mentally ready for a couple runs nothing too strenuous... don't get me wrong im not gunna run him for a few week now, just mooching as normal and doing more retrieves with rabbit dummy etc... cheers guys

Here we go chaps. Well done duke he done you proud. He has been the slowest starter between our pups but now it looks like the penny has really dropped. You had a very good idea he had it in him and he by far pushed the boat out. You rushed the retrieve but like you have said already that will come im sure of that. At least hes found his feet and is using mouth. Onwards and upwards bro I know you are feeling chuffed to bits. Enjoy the vid.

cheers lads... I agree REW next time hopefully theres no distractions and im gunna have to put more time into his retrieve... start walking off in the other way etc... I was abit over excited on the first one dint want him to drop again but he made sure he didn't make that mistake again... Cheers guys
