you have got to score a goal more than your opponent to win a game. no matter how good chelsea was they come 2nd today. again well done newcastle.

It was 91% in a certain part of the game for 10 or 15 mins they was well on top im a few parts of the game.

In the 5 seconds of the kick off, Newcastle had 100% of the possession, but Chelsea stormed back when they kicked off the second half and had 100% of the possesssion for 6 seconds !!........ Just shows statistics ain't all they are cracked up to be.

 

The actual possession for the whole of the game, ( you can't just cherry pick certain bits), was Newcastle 35 %, Chelsea 66%, according to Chelseas website.

Brigzy what would you like to have over the whole season 34% or 66%?? I think your argueing for the sake of it. As a darts player i was asked if i wanted a 33 average or 25 well for me easy 33 as i didnt miss many doubles in my prime....

I didn't tealise It was an argument, I was simply pointing out that the 91% was a silly thing to say. Possession figures should only be taken for the whole game, not just a part of it.

Interesting that you mention darts; only a week or so ago I watched Phil Taylor hit a 120 average over a four leg section of a match, higher than his opponent, yet he still lost !

 

Point I'm trying to make is just because you have the most possession or better averages, doesn't automatically mean you win the game.

Brigzy im not avin a go bud, ok my point is id rather have 66% over 34% or 33 average over 25 as i think means your playing better which means more confidence but hey i will agree all the better possesion and getting to double quicker dosnt always get u the win u may deserve..

I asked a friend of mine who is a bit of a stats bod today what premier league team has had the most possession over the course of the season.......Chelsea ? Man City ? Arsenal ? Man Utd ?........nope..................................................................................Swansea !!.....which kind of backs up Brigzys point.
