Busher Dont Like Working In A Team

had my little busher since she was about 8 month old she just shy of 2 year old now i think memory aint what it once was lol,she has never been what you would call an out and out crasher of cover but she does have a great nose and i learnt quick not to try and get her to enter cover for my sake rather than her own,iv put this to the test few times when iv had that "there's got to be something in there feeling "but it was never holding so i just let her work and if she goes in i know were probably on.

i mainly go out alone,im bringing on a lurcher pup and as a pair they seem very well suited, she will give the lurcher the brush off in the field she gives it that feck off leave me alone i got work to do but will play endlessly together in the garden.

this is just an observation and certainly not a problem for me as i don't go out with other lads very often but when i do its a whole different ball game.

she never really been good around strange dogs,i can walk her pretty much anywhere off lead and i know if another dog comes along she never one for going over for a chat lol, in fact she will readily come straight back and walk to heel ignoring it completely until its gone then return to nose down and away.iv been out with other lads few lurcher's tag along as well as bushers but she very reluctant to work as she does when we out alone.even if the others are in cover thats holding she reluctant to go in.

went out with a lad the other day he had to leave his busher at home as she was sore so only had my little bitch with a few lurchers and she worked like a trogan putting plenty rabbits up and few other things from cover no problem, seems its not the lurchers that put her off its having other dogs crashing around in cover she aint liking lol,

like i say not really a problem just one of those little things that make you wonder,i was thinking of breeding her in the future but to be fair think il end up buying another in,its great crack bushing but even better when you watch a few working as a team,

To be fair mate me and a mate were out with my pup and his busher the other day and his bitch acted compleatly different she realy realy realy didn't like the fact that my pup was there....the dog acted so diffrent it was unreal...the owner (a lad on here) said strait away that her nose was out if joint (in a strop) because of the pup.....dogs get jelouse for all kind of reasons and all act differently......weird things these dogs are lol

That's a nice dog mate.

Ive had at least two dogs who were well capable of putting a few rabbits away whether it be working cover for the lurchers marking or putting stuff to ground and marking the hidey hole

Great to watch and be a part of

To bring other dogs along that are not tuned and bonded to your dogs can turn all that on its head

Its happened to me and onetime I ended up with a dead dog.

Now I watch my dogs and act accordingly. If it means hunting alone then so be it

Sounds like you got your head screwed on mate

My bitch is the same mate, she never stops when its just me her and the lurcher, if i have a walk with anybody their dogs put her off, not to bad with other lurchers, but bushers that crash cover hard really throw her, even her own dam?

they can be strange creatures at times, the reason i was thinking of breeding her was so she might work well as part of a team with one of her own but as you say this may well not be the case, trouble is some the cover i work you can tell she getting the run around because its so big and rabbits can be reluctant to bolt, ideally id like two or three bushers on the go cheers

I think its a safe bet to breed her and keep a bitch pup back mate, don't forget its my bitch intimidated by her dam, not the other way round, your pup wouldn't know any different, and its likely your bitch will be the dominant one over her pup? Mine worked with my lads/mates dogs when she was younger, up to about a year old, no problems at all, but then i worked her for over two years on her own more or less, it made her self reliant, and she's a good grafter on her own, im not sure if she's intimidated, or just see's the other dogs as a nuisance really? She's sociable with other dogs in every other way, she just seems "put out" when other dogs do her job?

Nice bitch btw, similar looking to mine.
