hounddog3 763
The question is more or less for the coursing lads will this keep your bith lying up for any lenght of time or do you, s keep them going throught it .what sort of draw backs or problems can it cause the bitch. nans pat 2,575
ide mine out the day just over the break run well enough....some different than others. Quote Link to post
brenna 365
Run away at her for 5weeks then knock her off and salt her out at 9 weeks bring her back at 3 weeks after that that's why bitch greyhounds are half the price of a dog pup and if you have a bitch breaks twice a year your goosed I had bitch last year broke every 4 months got shot of her done my box in and I don't like supressing them they don't run the same 1 Quote Link to post

desertbred 5,490
Keep the bitch walking during the 21 days so she maintains a reasonable level of fitnesss, she will run flat , very flat in some instances but if the fitness is maintained the sooner the return to form A lot of the old greyhound lads used to keep the bitches off for months but track dogs need more explosive bouts of speed and a lot of bitches carry excess weight coming in and going out of season. A lot of lads now get bitches jabbed up and carry on working them, I personally wouldnt jab them but think back into work asap isnt a problem, Edited September 17, 2014 by desertbred 1 Quote Link to post

lamping lad 96
My bitch is in season too, and can see her fitness levels have dropped over these past couple of weeks. I've been told by some people just to carry on as exercise as normal... Quote Link to post
Tiny 7 1,694
My last bitch has put me off bitches now for this reason. She'd break Sept/Oct and 3/4 weeks later soften right up and run likely a Lab for a month 6wks. I've seen other no where near as bad but really as put me off them and only keep dogs now 1 Quote Link to post
Gaz_1989 9,539
I used to run my old bitch straight through and never noticed any difference. She came in twice a year so doing things by the book and leaving her off for weeks at a time wasn't really an option. My pup is going through her 1st season now at 14 months old and I've been excersising her and mooching her out every day as normal. I will play it by here but plan to work her as normal. I have heard stories about bitches milking up every season and that could be a nightmare. I am considering getting her spayed and getting a dog next time around for that reason. That and the fact that mine live inside and the blood droplets all over the house is foul. Quote Link to post
