all the nets sold here that are roughly equal to a long net are built for fishing, so they have leadweight along the bottom edge. other than the weight would this hurt, help or not matter for using the net out of the water?

just replace the leaded line with a nylon braid of a diameter that suits,will cut down the weight you have to carry,simply tie new line to existing,tape over knot to streamline it and pull through.i assume also the net may be tied to lead line,if so cut ties.hope this helps.all the best

a fishing net will be no good to you mate ... they are not made from nylon they have no bag and the mesh size will be wrong ...........

what material are the nets made from and what are the mesh sizes ?

i take it the top line will have floats or floatline aswel ?

hadn't thought about the floatline but probably will have one. why does it matter what they are made from (nylon, hemp, etc)? mesh sizes rang from 1/4" squares upto 6" squares w/ & w/o a line splitting them diagonally. can get netting heavy enough to hold 100# tuna, so i know they would be strong enough.

would think its not so much to do with strength, but ability to purse around a rabbit, i use pidgeon netting in work, and had thought that this would make an ok long net, but its to rigid, there would be no baggyness to it, and therefore the rabbits would all to easily get back out of the net

most fishing nets are made from monofilement, if you can get nylon then a 4" mesh would be perfect !

 

remember you need 100yrds of net to make a 50yrd longnet !

Try looking on the internet for nylon sole nets ! 15-20mesh deep 4"mesh.

netting companies sell them without leadline or floating rope.

Bass nets are also good,but you"ll have to cut them down to the size

you require,as they are 60mesh deep!
