Cedric 132
I'm getting a new Ruger 10/22 this week. Do you recommend cleaning out all the factory lube and relubing? Recomendations for a good brand of lube and which bits need grease and which oil? Quote Link to post
charlie caller 3,654
I dont have a 10/22 I have a CZ 511 semi, but my mate has one, if he cleans it, it jams for a bit until its got mucky again, my CZ is the same, odd I know, but my advice would be to keep the magazine spotless, and dont lube the rifle internals much, they just dont seem to like it. stillair1 16
I use dry molykote (z powder) in a 10/22 clone. Quote Link to post
andyf 144
Don't put lube near the sliding bolt parts, it'll just catch and trap the powder residue, and that will make matters worse than they already are. In a perfect world if you could squirt an airline into the open bolt area every 30 or 40 shots to clear the 'crap' that would be very helpful (but not possible usually). As said keep the mag's spotless, I kept my loaded spares in a poly-zip bag in my pocket to avoid 'pocket fluff'. Got a bolt gun now!! AF 1 Quote Link to post

Cedric 132
I could do with finding some decent dry lube myself, tried today with no success. Moly or teflon if anyone knows of a stockist. Quote Link to post

Good point I think the stuff the lock lads used was a Moly Graphite combination, I have used graphite powder when repairing locks in the past and although it would be perfect as a lube for a fiream it can be VERY messy as the powder gets everywhere. I think I read somewhere the military use graphite powder where operating in the dessert etc?? Quote Link to post
