Are you still allowed to join if your whippets are fit for purpose and have killed a rabbit before?.......and do you have to be from Bangor and over weight like your dogs ??... sorry my mistake.. I got this mixed up with the whippet kennel club shows scene criteria ....sorry !!!! :icon_redface: :icon_redface:. looking forward to next Sunday to meet again with real whippets and real doggie people and do what whippets are supposed to do,, Fookin RUN!!!!!

The secret is in the name Graham & Darren 'SPORTING WHIPPET CLUB N.I.' not 'Working Whippet Club' and it was set up to cater for all types of whippet ownership, not just working,so everybody can enjoy the breed whatever they choose to do with their whippets.

Show, race, work, pet......ALL are welcome, as long as they are whippets x

my original post was a piss take at the kc show scene that my missus has kindly made me take her too the last few months which she loves but which melts my brain and happiness. But since you have raised a few points and took very large chips on your shoulders I will answer them for you. Darren might not actually keep a whippet but I can assure you , I do,, and he is out hunting/ racing with me and my whippets alongside his own lurchers week in week out and has been for over 30 years .Secondly are you the same two people who wanted Darren to judge a show at your Sporting whippet club events even though as you say he doesn't own a whippet? Strange that you want him to judge then. Now on the Sporting whippet club ie,,it not being the working whippet club. is showing a sport? Sporting in the very definition of the word is an activity were some sort of exercise or effort is exerted by the participants (usually) so it could be argued that Sporting whippet club is not really appropriate as a name since many of the dogs are just shown and not raced at all. I could jump all over some of the other statements you made above regarding the sporting whippet club and pure bred whippets but I wont for the sake of your club. Now if you feel the need to defend a certain fat whippet puppy farmer and the kc show scene in general when I say some thing about them please wait until I post it on a kc whippet forum because this is definitely a HUNTING forum.

Graham, I know your post was a piss take, I know who you were getting a dig at, but it didn't have to be on this thread which is an advertisement for our forthcoming event, and I very much doubt the person whom your comments were aimed at would even be on this forum.

As for Darren being asked to judge, that was a committee decision, and as Darren is a friend I would certainly have supported him. My comment also was tongue in cheek, maybe I should have put a smiley face on just so you knew!!

It's great that there is a club that caters for all types of whippets and I have always enjoyed a great days craic at any of the Sporting Whippet Clubs days I've attended especially the racing though I do feel that those who work their whippets on a regular basis are on the decline. I just hope that whether at the Sporting Whippet Club or at the Lurcher and Terrier shows throughout the coming months that only those who genuinely work their dogs put them in the working class.

How do you know whether a whippet is "fit for purpose" if it's not regularly doing what the bred was intended for? :boogy:

Is it OK for ladyjane to mouth on other people's threads but no one is aloud to speak on hers

Oh dear I see its only for whippets now .

Ladyjane won't be able to show or race then

What will we do without her

Can't wait to see all my genuine whippet friends

You are right,,point taken ladyjane regarding this being a thread for advertising the upcoming fixture and my original post was not supposed to offend the genuine whippet people who attend the Sporting whippet club( yourselves included) . The sporting whippet club in my view is the best run and enjoyable day out with the family and dogs, month in month out throughout the summer. Darren and myself have been debating the very real differences in the kc show whippets and the genuine kc fit for purpose whippets recently, and it has then spilled onto this thread from my first post which is the wrong place to air our views to be honest. Both Darren and myself will keep our views off this thread but ,,,, your ears are getting bent on Saturday and Sunday with our facts and figures.................... and we are always right! :boogy:plus we have the countrymans weekly to back us up :tongue2:
