Further update for our show:

Whereas many other years the circumstances would not allow, we are very thankful and pleased to announce that our show this year will be located right in the heart of the Game Fair.

The grounds that have been provided to us are simply outstanding, and are no doubt the best yet.

There will be free purpose made ringside parking facilities exclusively for Dog Show participants, (signs need to be followed to ensure you take advantage of this).

We would like to take this opportunity to thank the NI Countryside Festival Team who have made every effort to ensure that this year; we are not only located at the fair grounds but we will be quite an important part of which in our opinion is the best Game Fair in Ireland.

The level of effort and commitment of the team this year, really shows how much they appreciate Lurcher and Terrier community and value their custom.

Together, we aim to make this our best show to date.

We look forward to seeing you all there

PL,

I wish you and your team well at the Maze - although we are going to have to agree to differ on which is the best Irish game or country fair or countryside or country living festival as I think we have two major contenders for this title in our stable! However it is good to see the festival team are now branding the event as the NI Countryside Festival instead of using variants of our brand names and trade marks. This and locating the event in a countryside show setting could create the right conditions for little or no confusion between that event and ours and the bit of difference could mean the events being complementary rather than competing.

Also good to see they are following our lead and having the terrier, whippet and lurchers as an integral part of the NI Countryside Festival. Best of luck with the weather although with the new site that will be less important. Hope to see you at some time over the weekend although we are exhibiting at the Ballymena Show that weekend to promote what you might describe as the 2nd best game or country fair!

We are pleased to announce that this years events will be sponsored by Charlie Keenan & Hunter Wellies.

We would like to thank the above sponsors for their support.

The show will start straight after the racing final with four rings for the Lurcher,Whippet,Terrier & Strong Dogs.

And we hope with the extra class in the Strong Dog ring results in a good turn out for this breed as there is not many oppurtunitys

for Strong Dog handlers to show their dogs in the showing calender.

A VERY HAPPY CHRISTMAS TO ALL MY FRIENDS IN THE COUNTRY SPORTS  ARENA
As we approach the end to 2025, I would like to reach out and personally thank  all my friends in Country Sports for all  the hard work you  put into  organising our dog show and race days in 2025 for all to enjoy. These were all fantastic events and truly served as a wonderful window for our Country Sports fraternity.
Days like these at our dog shows in the summer are so important for our community, and your details and dedication to the cause has really shone through. So many charities have benefited over the years and so many new friends made at these get togethers  by like minded people. This was very evident in July this year when the Burren Working Dog Club gave £17,OOO to a charity. What an achievement.

I know there will be some very sad homes  this year,  with places missing at the  dinner table  in  our Country Sports  community. Can I please offer my heartfelt sympathy to all those people , and  hopefully with Gods help you will get through to brighter days ahead.

Many thanks to the McGrath Racing Club Carlow, for a great day out at the 5 Nations and who has travelled north and south of the border to run our racing so efficiently and helped me out on many occasions..  A special word of thanks to Tally Ho ( Peter Morgan ) for keeping the Country Sports window open in the dark days of winter by organising your virtual competitions and giving away so many generous prizes in return. This is so greatly appreciated .

And Finally, to my mentors and long term friends  Mr 5 Nations himself, yes The King of the Castle Albertj Titterington and his lovely wife Irene. Albert it is great to see you getting back to health again, and we look forward to seeing you back on the scene in 2026.

Finally, Finally, may I take this opportunity  to  wish you all North and South of the border and further afield a very Happy Christmas and  Prosperous  New Year.

To we meet again in 2026 God Bless

A Tribute to the late John Shaw who passed away  last Thursday 6th November 25

      I Am Free
Do not grieve for me now my  friends and family, I am free
I am following the path God Laid for me
I took his hand when I heard him call
I turned my back and left it all
I could not stay another day
To Love, to live, to hunt, to show my treasured Whippets, or play.
I found a peace at close of day.
Be not burdened with the times of sorrow
I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow
Perhaps my time seemed all to brief
Do not lengthen it now with undue grief
Lift up your hearts my friends and share with me
      God wanted me now,
      He set me free.
John, we will love you forever and you will be sadly missed by your loving family and all your Country Sporting Fraternity and in the show ring.
May the Angels above give you the best seat in Heaven and may your gentle soul rest in peace.
      For Country Sports Fraternity
      Margaret Mc Stay
