lucky 578
A few people have posted saying my mate has had or I have heard, has anybody got a saluki x greyhound that is running now and killed fox's (pre ban) on a regular basis? it's not running now but the dog on the right was a first cross saluki/greyhound and he killed stacks of foxes single handed in his day, but good saluki based fox dogs were imo one in a million, having said that the same could be said for any cross. elisderyn 496
I agree Lucky.............I had a bull/grey saluki/grey & he was as game as anything else you could get..........He would tackle anything & I accounted for alot of game with this dog however one swallow does'nt make a summer & in my opinion he was a bit of an anomily Like my mates straight Saluki cross that would murder foxes regularly , Does that mean Salukis make great fox dogs...NO!!!! but in every aspect of hunting you get one offs & thats the bare bones of it..........My old dog came to me by chance & if I wanted a fox dog these days , if it was legal of course , I would go for a straight bull blooded animal every time.................Horses for course I think is the expression... Guest FOXDOG
LUCKY have you got any more pics of that saluki/grey/bull/grey hes a cracker, my type of lurcher Quote Link to post
Guest joe ox
I have no doubt that saluki bred lurchers with other breeds(especially terrier) in the mix will kill foxs. Underneath written in bold was my first post on this topic, I still believe this to be true. Most saluki x greyhound will not touch fox there will always be a exception to the rule though. Whippet BOY why dont you act mature and stop swearing and insulting people? I was brought up to respect my elders not swear at and insult them! You also say I sit in front of a pc and slag people off any chance I get, can you quote me doing that unprovoked? You insulted and swore at me unprovoked! In season I go out anything upto 5 nights a week so I have that experience you talk of but I do keep a open mind because I believe no matter how old you are your never to old to LEARN. Learn some manners BOY! Edited October 7, 2007 by joe ox Quote Link to post
