Tiercel 6,986
Socks ive done my military service,it was tough,i managed to get through it,when an able bodied, fully fit, youngster, needs a time out, when the less physically able do the full slog, with all their impediments and physical restraints,i don,t want to know about a little discomfort, compared to their day to day full on restrictions and restraints,id rather have a little discomfort, for a short while, than a lifetime of pain and impediment, the real heroes of the expedition were not the ones who gained the most recognition.Fair play to the lad for getting involved and boosting the coffers, but lets get real. But it was not just him that did not make the full slog, antartic guides, who by inferance had experience in that terrain took as long out through illness as he did. The boy done well, raised the profile for a lot of disabled service men and women. If you wish to see past that with your bigoted outlook, then please keep it to yourself. It's not about the royal it's about raising the awareness for the injured troops. It's good publicity and will have raised a lot of cash for injured soldiers.
morton 5,369
Tiecel, ive never felt the need or inclination to bow tow to our supposed superiors, the lads that deserved the majority of the credit for that treck are who?,name at least one of them?,Harry raised the profile of the expedition and thus became the focus of the fundraising, which then became successful, fair play to the lad, result, the lads that endured the majority of the pain, directly through their disability,s are the ones who took a back seat to an able bodied soul that took a break to refresh and recuperate, name one of the lads that did the slog?,the real participants in the expedition and not the also ran with royal lineage.Bring back Cromwell. socks 32,253
You at least need to have been in a high altitude environment to understand the mechanics of what it does to your body .......

morton 5,369
I don,t have a missing limb or a disability bourne through military injury,i don,t need to have an understanding of strapping a frozen leg or arm on to realise the implications of such an injury, having no previous knowledge or understanding of altitude training may have been low on these lads priority,s,as would be the case for most of us,you doff your hat to the prince ill doff mine to the real lads on the expedition,no altitude training, priceless. What really puzzles me, is why, if his posts are a true reflection of how he feels, did he stay in the army such a length of time to do all he mentioned? TC
