The Best Way To Breast A Pidgeon

Recommended Posts

Hi Jesse welcome to the forum. I usually lay the pigeon on its back and pull out all the breast feathers. Once done you will see the breast bone. Take a sharp knife (watch your fingers) and run it down the side of the breast bone slowly working the meat away as you go. Keep the knife tight to the breast bone and you will end up with a nice fillet. Then just repeat for the other side. If you don't wish to pluck it (very easy anyway) you can skin it just by pinching the skin and pulling apart, this is also quite easy. Then just do as above.

There are other ways, you could just pull the full ribcage from the rest of the body with the breast meat still attached.

Hope this helps

Regards

Dek

quickest way of doing it is just to take off both wings pull the crop out and then push your fingers therough the hole where the crop was into the cavity. Then pull the breast bone away from the back of the bird and it will then sort of turn inside out and you will have a breastbone and meat in one hand and the rest of the bird in the other. Its a bit massy but theres less wastage and you dont need a knife. Also its really quick if youve got a few to do.

Definitely the best way!

Kind of the same as in the video I put up, it is the quickest way.

If you grip the legs and tail, and slip your thumb under the breast bone from the vent end you can kind of roll it out and off the skin neater.

      Hi,
I've recently moved to St Neots, Cambridgeshire and looking for an area or a bit of land where the owner requires help with pigeons etc. This is solely for fun and not my full time job.

Please let me know, if you or someone you know would let me shoot a few pigeons/rats for them in this sort of area.

      Many thanks
      Tom

      Morning all

Apologies if this has been covered previously, I have obviously missed it if it has been.
I would just like to ask if anyone has given the A-TEC shot gun silencer a real test on the pigeons ( Full day). If you have can you let me know how it effected your shooting, if at all, or did you get to grips with it quite quick. I would be looking to use standard 32g no6 loads.
The permission we currently shoot is shrinking rapidly due to new housing estates popping up so I am looking at all options with a view to upsetting as few people as possible. I would also be looking to use on Geese if they are OK , and I am aware that they recommend a max load of 43g through the A-TEC.
          Thanks in advance

Hello, I've recently moved to the Norfolk area and was wondering if anyone can point me in the right direction to getting permission to shoot on some local landowners land. I'm from and currently serve in the british army and know how to shoot well with my own kit. I do have some hunting experience and i'm also a BASC member to which comes with insurance. Any help would be appreciated.
