old real tree 92
I'm an engineer and been qualified a long time. Got well over 10 years experience . But couldn't leave the family and I know my Mrs is a home bird and wouldn't move far from her family.. 70k isn't a lot for relocating abroad.. But if I was a few years younger with no children or Mrs then this would be up my street..... Good opportunity for the correct person....

gnasher16 31,602
Its worth keeping in mind the cost of living in Switzerland compared to here.....property for example is ridiculous.....i looked at flats just outside Zurich a few years ago rentals were fetching 4000 francs p/month works out around 350 quid p/week just basic 2 bed flats its a very expensive place to live so while 70k sounds good dollar its probably the equivalent to staying here and earning 40k !

mushroom 14,207
Its worth keeping in mind the cost of living in Switzerland compared to here.....property for example is ridiculous.....i looked at flats just outside Zurich a few years ago rentals were fetching 4000 francs p/month works out around 350 quid p/week just basic 2 bed flats its a very expensive place to live so while 70k sounds good dollar its probably the equivalent to staying here and earning 40k ! Way above 70K and there is the C&B package, covers money towards rent/healthcare etc You are right though Switzerland can be expensive but the lack of taxes and the availability of good paying jobs (take the wife, she get's a shitty job earning 50k ) that's you and yours sorted if you're prudent Edited to add this is not in Geneva or Zurich so the cost of living is much less, 70chf would be more like 50-55k Edited January 30, 2014 by mushroom
