well this boy cost me $500 Aus. he would have cost me $800, but he has a slight bursur on one of his front legs, meaning that the breeder couldnt sell him as a show dog. hes roughly 11 months old, im not sure exactly of his height but hes a big boy. ill measure 2nite and post it 2morrow. the photo is taken with the picturesc Lake Hume in the background. he came from Moe, near Melbourne for those who dont know of it. im not quiet sure whether deerhounds are measured in hands or inches? but ill measure him in inches. 1 question before i do... do i measure from his back or from his head?

thanks everyone for your replies. :victory:

Its not the size of the dog on the outside that counts, its whats inside him..

Dont fall into the trap Flyn hon, its a clever ploy, a sales tactic for breeders, and a way for these breeders to command higher prices for their puppies. It's a way to lure more potential buyers in their direction..Those of us who know the breed have realised this, like retina tests in collie breeds, its a waste of money testing, but it looks good when a buyer comes a long..the biggest numbers of deaths in the deerhound breed are cancer and torsion, and these are the first and second killers of all pedigree breeds
