Rusting Fast

hi all. just wondering how long it takes for your guns to start rusting. i store my gun next to my radiator in the corner of my room. i generally oil and clean it once every week. by then i can see a little rust on the closest part of the barrel (closest to the shooters face) is this normal?

No, clean it after you use it, not just once a week!

i always clean after use but i havent used it for about 4 months now.

Moisture is forming from somewhere, so move to a new place, wipe down and get rid of the rust, leave a film of oil on the metalwork if storing for a long time!

I wipe mine with a towel and leave it to warm up then oil it that seems to work for me

......and DON'T store it next to a radiator, far too much fluctuation of temperature up and down as the heating goes on and off, liable to induce moisture!

Wipe it over after you use it , then dont touch the metal with your fingers as said you might find its your finger print that causing the rusting

What do people tend to use to clean guns, what types of oil etc are there any sprays you can get?

you can get oil oils yes. i just use some elcheapo wilkos gear though. some people say baby oil works well. ive tried it a few days ago. just need to wait and see what happens,

yes it does but something like gt 85 would work better as is has ptfe which would leave a thin film over the gun parts.

If you know anyone in the army see if they can get you a tin of gun oil. That's what I use and where my guns are stored is very cold but I dont have a problem with rust
