Nipped Out Local...

Recommended Posts

Just nipped out local on a mates permission and took my other mate with us so his pup could have a run if we saw an easy one.

First run to my mates bull cross, it just made the hedge before he got there.

Second run to Lady, 1 in the bag.

Third run to the bull cross, another good run but he just missed it.

Fourth run was the pups, sat really right. It got up and she didn't see it so my mate slipped his dog, then the pup saw it and they were both after it. The bull cross struck, missed and tumbled and the pup carried on and scooped it up.

While this was going on I spotted another further down the field so slipped my bitch and after a few turns she scooped it up.

Then we got another sitter for the pup, sitting really right but my mate slipped too soon and she hadn't seen it. She saw it eventually and got up its arse but it was too late, it made the hedge.

We jumped in the motor with 3 bunnys and headed to the second permission but the fog came down really heavy. Couldn't see a thing, let alone lamp. So we called it a night.

Couple of pics...

Well done we molly shes coming on now ed keep her keen mate

He's done a cracking job with her

If we can just get her a few decent slips where she sees the rabbit get up out of its seat at close range then there will be no stopping her.

I take it you mean she's getting slipped and the rabbits staying clamped and she's either run over the top of it or in another direction then the rabbits started running? Can you not just walk right up to the bunny and wait till it moves to slip her as in when it's practically under her feet? Or get to within a few feet and try to panic the rabbit to move?

Yeh that's exactly what's happening Ross. Ed is just too keen

He thinks she's seen it and slips. As you say he needs to wait and walk right up to it. One of them last night he could of kicked up the arse

It will come mate. Both man and dog learning the game

Which one mate? The red bitch is mine. 24" Unknown breeding. She's doing alright. Really being getting hammered this season

She's not perfect but never fails to impress and gives 110%. Bags of stamina and a pleasure to have around.

She has just had a couple of weeks off with a knocked toe and a week or so when she came in season. Don't normally run her in season at all but just gave her a couple last night.

The black bitch is my mate Ed's (moorside on here) and she is 3/4 whippet 1/4 beddy 20" and just starting out. Last night was her first lamped rabbit. Many more to come

Yeh the fawn bitch, looks like a whippet grey saluki grey type, reminds me of my old bitch crackin little dog do the job anywhere when fit, good brood bitch aswell..

Yeh I think that's the kind of way she's bred mate. Definitely saluki and whippet in there. Could be a touch of collie or bull. She looks different in different pics...

keep at'em mate, tonight wet+windy you might do bit better. When you walk the dog up to the squatter, hold the dog back till the rabbits moves, but do so with the dog behind the arse of the rabbit, not to the side.If it side on the rabbit will try jink+stop+turn, , but ran from behind there good chance the dog might put a strike on right away. try it next time, even with a dog like Bryn who had tons of rabbits, he catches alot more from running behind the rabbit than side or head on .?
