Adam1990 24
Just been watching the news on this people being offered free dog cloneing over here. And also been able to "bag" cells of the dog for future use. It works from what ive just seen by useing a surrogate bitch for a 2 month pregnancy. Anyhow i hear a lot of folks talking about "the best dog theyve had" who mabe now in retirement now. What do you all think? Will have the same genetic make up but might behave different. Im not sure but theres got to be times you think what if i trained it differently or something and now you could! Quote Link to post
bobby blackheart 1,209
it is not as nature intended-same as these folk that choose the colour of their kids eyes etc-f****d RIGHT UP We should let things be-imagine the amount of cocks that would be cloning enough shite about as it is atb 4 Quote Link to post

whitefeet4190 1,729
That's part if the excitement when buying a pup is wondering weather it's gonna be the best dog you have ever owned or it's gonna be useless, I know [BANNED TEXT] ur saying but things like that should be left alone 2 Quote Link to post
Suzy Ross 236
I think it's a great idea. I've a whippet greyhound on the wrong side of 6, who I'd love to clone. To think I could have the same dog for the rest of my days sounds great. 1 Quote Link to post
Adam1990 24
Ye i dont think i would be comfortble with it because of the anticipation of getting a new dog wondering what its going be like, having ur ups and down with it throughout ur time together. but ive also not got the expirience or the dog to say "the best dog ive had" but in suzys case its different. Nice to hear what peoples thoughts are. Who knows whats just elaround the corner ay... 1 Quote Link to post
shaaark 11,303
Utter nonsense! Same as people, all dogs are individuals, and even if it's you're favorite type, it will have it's own slightly different character, and to me that's part of the fun of bringing on a new pup, even if it does your head in a bit more for a while than the previous pup did. Not saying the above post is nonsense, just the cloning mullarky! Edited October 29, 2013 by shaaark Quote Link to post

birddog 1,354
there's a lot of nurture in a good dog......even if the idea were to work who says the 'clone' will get the same chances, flukes, lucky breaks, experience etc 1 Quote Link to post

jack2o 45
it would seem a bit creepy if it was exactly the same as a dog that you had buried.think its interesting but wouldnt fancy it myself i like the idea of bringing on a different dog each time keeps things interesting 1 Quote Link to post
Suzy Ross 236
How would it work, would it be a litter of cloned pups or just one? I think it all depends on what you have to clone regarding whether you think it's a good idea or not. If your getting a pup in the hope its better than you have then fair play. But if your looking for a pup and thinking, I hope he turns out as good as my other dog then why not. I know the dogs traits will be different due to life experiences etc but that's a good thing. No matter how good a dog is there is always things we wish we had done different in training it. Whether that's breaking it to cats or concentrating more on his retrieve etc. here your getting a clean canvas again with a dog you know has got it in him to make the grade and if he doesn't, it really is down to you.
