Freezing Whole Bass

May seem a dumb question but here goes. Has anybody frozen them whole instead of filleted. If so do they keep ok.Reason i ask is i usually fillet them and get a friend to vac pack them for me. Iwant to keep these whole so i can cook them whole. cant vac pack em there too big for his packer.

yeah ive frozen them whole with no problems mate, just make sure its well wrapped etc

Cheers mate i will blather them in cling film then plastic bag them.

i just gut them & wrap them in a bag they allways seem ok when i get them out to cook bry , mind you i get fed up of eating so many

yes ive just gutted them, put 3 layers of cling film on them and put them in carrier bags. Hopefully they will keep ok like that.

fine I done loads this year till my freezer broke and they all defrosted. .. was gutted.

Make sure their gutted no need to descale them (you can do that when defrosted) and just wrap em up. got some in the freezer but i hate bass.

To be honest mate i cant see why people rave about it.Gilthead bream are a far better fish to catch and nicer to eat. Give me a few mackerel instead of a bass anytime.

agreed much robbo id rather a flounder than a bass any day.. ... and you cant beat the fight fromn a guilt. .. see ur not that far from me. give me a shout next spring and will try to arrange a fish .

mackeral beats bass for taste any day of the week but mackie has to be eaten same day hmm nice and crispy love it the only way i eat my bass now it to fillet them into strips & dip them in batter and eat with chips and peas lol

I have to say that I love Bass and find the best way to cook is to keep it simple.............cook it in the oven whole, stuffed with a small amount of butter and herbs wrapped in foil Also love Mackerel but they seem to have become very shy around here for the last few years, compared to years gone by ....................someone told me that it was that Hugh chap and his push to eat mackerel and not cod that did the damage....................everyone took his advice, including the fishing fleet
