Ideation 8,217
I thought you may have been someone else. . .. and he was a bit of an idiot. . . so the whole thing would have made more sense Any pictures of the dog? It's interesting because the whole running home thing must be some kind of deep seated issue. . . . because most dogs would just f**k about or stand there. . . . . . rather than running like feck for home. Does the dog like you? I mean. . . .was it bonded to you in general, and like your company? Link to post
whitefeet4190 1,729
Yer I think so, another thing that annoyed me about him was that I had to take him everywhere with me otherwise he would whine, so I'd say he bonded pretty well I took him to work the pub the shop he even slept in the house Link to post
skycat 6,174
This is getting weirder and weirder. If, as the lad says, he did everything right (something we'll never know, not being unkind but we can't see what happened) then some dogs do have odd temperaments. Even the best dog man in the world can't work with a dog if its temperament isn't right: nervy, screw loose, genetic problem etc. I once took on a lovely pup; bright, intelligent, desperate to please, showed interest in the field etc etc. BUT, he was a bad eater, picky, wouldn't eat normally at all. Went for days without eating sometimes, then scoffed the lot. At around 18 months he developed a bad auto immune problem and had to be put down. Does anyone remember the story of Phil Lloyd's Maggie? That was a sad case, and in no way down to the owner. Just genetically unsound. Link to post

Lol funny u should say that, he wouldn't eat dog food either I have to go and get him off cuts of meat from butchers every week, I do feed it to my dogs anyway but if I ran out of meat then the other dogs would be happy with just biscuit but with him he just wouldn't eat, so I had to make special trips for him Link to post
paulus 26
years and years ago i was given a collie cross from a member on here, this was a superb daytime bitch but on the lamp she was a nightmare, at the time i was lamping at the back of our estate. there was a grassed area that once was a landfill site, this at night was heaving with rabbits but they were turbo powered on the short grass, this bitch was catch first slip. kill and drop the rabbit and then run off. next morning she would be found either sat on my front doorstep or the mates who gave me her. she was always as fat as a barrell as she would have spent the night raiding all the bin bags on the estate. daytime she never did any of this behaviour. wierd fooking dog Link to post
