Anybody ever used purple metholated spirts in dogs feet befor , was talking to someone the other week and they said it was excellent

Why???? One of many old wives tales supposed to harden up the feet, just imagine rubbing it into your hands daily and how sore they would get. If you want to harden feet then use gradually increasing exercise, especially road work.

Edited to add, its basically alcohol and nurse etc rub alcohol gel into their hands all the time to clean them so we'd expect that they would all have hands like a brickie.

i was once told to soak conkers in vinegar to make them harder, that didn't work either just made my pocket smell like the local chippy as above mate

We'd dry them in the oven, slow after it was turned off, (thats conkers not dogs) lol.
