skycat 6,174
Just lurcher to lurcher for generations: the straw colour is supposed to be typical of the 'true' lurcher. There's an interesting little book published in 1790 where the lurcher is described as a breed of dog, and described as typically having a reddish or sandy coloured coat, if I remember rightly. Here's a link: http://books.google.co.uk/books?id=dWw-AAAAcAAJ&pg=PA236&lpg=PA236&dq=the+lurcher+in+the+history+of+the+quadruped&source=bl&ots=r69EMaHSha&sig=L2XjLAwlnrJIZ6a5MaJ4Fh4wAIE&hl=en&sa=X&ei=DnssUr38GYm-0QXuiIHgAw&ved=0CE8Q6AEwAw#v=onepage&q=the%20lurcher%20in%20the%20history%20of%20the%20quadruped&f=false Quote Link to post
