frazdog 252
building a new shed at weekend an was wondering has anyone used ply for outside,if so what did they paint it with.im ply lining inside as usual.old shed was shiplap very thin thought ply would be sturdier.any thoughts.happy hunting Quote Link to post
rob84 112
ply will just de-laminate over time even the marine stuff, your best bet is treated tongue & grove or thicker ship-lap than you had Quote Link to post
frazdog 252
thanks rob was thinking that meself but i seen flat roof paint forget name now not that dear an its for ply keep it waterproof an drys to hard finish.seems the job Quote Link to post
Big dode 67
Yes would be fine too use either 12mm or 15mm for outside And I find that creosote substitute from b and q protects it fine Quote Link to post
frazdog 252
thanks big dode.any good substitutes what about creoste itself.would that not be the best Quote Link to post
monkey*hanger 16
think the paint you mean is black jack roof seal bitchamous paint, but there again evercryl chromapol is a lot more hardier and has fibreglass material mixed in for bonding gaps ;-) Quote Link to post
Big dode 67
Don't think they make creosote any more as rob 84 says tongued and grooved is better will last longer but is more expensive cheers Quote Link to post
frazdog 252
aye lad its the harder finish stuff very durable think it would seal a ply shed very well Quote Link to post
frazdog 252
no bother big dode a mate got a shed custom built thick t an g outside ply on inside great big shed cost him over thousand pounds but the boards are fading after few years.suppose time wears at everything.i could build ply one for half the price an paint that good flat roof paint.think it would be a better job Quote Link to post
Malt 379
Why don't you put roofing felt the outside if you've got your heart set on ply mate? You can always replace it and it won't be as much hassle as painting that horrible black shit you're on about painting it with! Quote Link to post
frazdog 252
nah malt thats stuff is terrible an looks even worse.the roofing paint is grey an an waterproof an leaves a nice smooth finish.roofers are on youtube using it cant paste it to here avnt a clue lol Quote Link to post

Malt 379
I used acrypol today to temporarily fix a leak, fecking horrible shit to paint with and potent as anything! It's good at what it does but it's nasty shit ain't it? Takes weeks to get it off your skin if you accidentally get any on it.. My brother stuck his eye shut with it once, dull c**t that he is!
