Ricky-N.p.p 0
just been replying to another thread and seen as there has been alot of talk over these b&q plant sticks i thought i would stick my reply on here for anyone who might miss it on the other thread. i think it makes sence any way Theres been alot of talk about these plant sticks from b&q lately as an alternative to the fibre glass ones for the quick set nets, having spoken to a lad who is using both he recons that the b&q ones do the same job but wont last as long, now i am awaiting the matterials to make a 100yrd quickset to arrive in the post just now so took a trip along to b&q and bought some of these plant sticks, they are made of some sort of metal tubing coated with a green ribbed plastic, they are 90cm in lenth and 8mm thick and also verry light and at 59 pence per stick ideal if you ask me ! lets be honest its not as if i'm putting them on a quality hand tied longnet its cheap nasty 4z sheet netting that wont last more than a couple of seasons anyway so what is the point in spending 4 quid per stick ? if a few sticks need replacing then i'll just replace them....simple ! MikeTheDog 153
Enjoy your longnetting Ricky, just remember, cheapness is the worst form of economy!..... If they do the job where you go then good luck to you.. ....Time will tell when the weather sets in and the ground goes like iron.. .Hope they don't break when you're putting extra pressure on them to get them into hard ground, you could end up doing yourself a nasty mischief... Ricky. Youll find these poles are a waste of time, and a waste of good night when you could be catching rabbits. If you laid out the extra money and used some of my steel poles, even when your net gets full of holes from catching lots of rabbits , you can throw the net away and fit my poles to your new net.The poles you bought at b & q are ideal for shooting poles. I use two of them about 3' long by 1/2 " with a few rubber bands joining the two together about 21/2" from the top.About a foot down tape a piece of nylon cord about a foot long to one pole and then to the other. This stops the poles from splaying out too much, Rest the forend of your rifle in the small 21/2" V at the top. Ideal for kneeling shooting. regards alan Quote Link to post
