The bullfights were my passion for many years and I hope one day to go back to spain to follow the bulls again (after the babys a bit older) I'm not going to go into it here as I would end up feeling

Heres some info i found might help explain better   Bullfighting in Portugal traces its roots to ancient times, when Celts fought bulls in pagan festivals. Bullfighting in Portugal today is a snaps

No i'm not comparing the 2 in any way i'm comparing people who rage against it with no knowledge or experience. Just like with foxhunting or indeed people who eat 6 week old electrocuted chickens in

To be fair baw,,, your one of the best at changing my mind on a subject,, in fact I start agreeing with you when your arguing against me...lol

But......dido did you hands down on that previous page......lol

 it's hard to win a debate with someone who doesn't want to debate it. Everyone could say, I know more than you so there, it's ma Baw I'm not playing. He's obviously passionate about the subject but like all passions we get enthralled in, we can sometimes become blind to what's actually happening. You can create the biggest coliseum the world has ever seen, the strongest bulls, the bravest men....... It's still a trapped dumb animal forced to defend its life till its inevitable slow death for nothing more than entertainment.

Your dead right.... I love it....

I think the comparison between fox hunting and bull fighting is a fair one if you ask yourself this question.

How would you feel if there were members of a Spanish/Portuguese bullfighting forum discussing foxhunting and calling it barbaric, even though the majority of them had never seen it and those that had didn't understand it?

I am not going to sit in my house in the UK and try and dictate what goes on in another country or criticise someones traditions. Maybe those of us that follow and support fox hunts and who love the ceremony and tradition associated with it are cut from the same cloth as those who cheer on the matador.

I guess what I'm trying to say is..............................................................................OLE!!!!!!!!!!!

Right........ So unless it happens in the uk, we can't comment? Dogs getting skinned alive in Russia...... Who cares, we don't understand. Chinese frying fish alive and eating them still alive on the table...... Seal cubs getting battered, batter in boys. All of these things could be classes as culture, tradition. I couldn't care if folk think fox hunting is cruel, I can debate the issue, can they?

Hahahahahaha!!!!!! I had a mental image of you rolling up your sleeves, adjusting your petticoat and leaning towards the computer screen as you started to type!! You big fanny!!!!!!

You can comment all you want, I never said that. You can debate all you like, that's your right. I was merely stating that there is a point of reference between the way people view bull fighting and fox hunting.

If you was honest, you'd admit that seals get everything they deserve. All that cuteness hides a fish eating machine with no regard for salmon stocks. I don't think caving there heads in is tradition, just the most effective way of harvesting them.

 keep that image but change it to iPhone lol. I've no problem culling animals that are a problem, even cute kittens. I just don't see the entertainment in it or in bullfighting.

All it took was mention of food lol

Here in Catalunya they made it illegal (although they do have the odd fight every year) not because it is seen as cruel but more because it is seen as Spanish  Bit like the Jocks banning morris dancing

Well I never read it like that. I read it like ' that's my opinion and that's that....na na nana na!!' We can all have an opinion on it and mines is similar to Baws. I love to watch things like rodeo on a horse or bull but if they started sticking knifes in it or spears I'd have a change off opinion.

It's a lot different to being an anti.... I may be anti bull fighting but I wouldn't sign any petitions against as I realise its a cultural thing and its feck all to do with me..... Still don't need to like it though!!!

Exactly lab. I ain't gonna start telling anyone what they can and can't do or what they should be watching as entertainment. But I still know what's cruel and what isn't.

Makes me laugh when people accuse others of "knowing nothing about" certain things. What you see in bullfighting is what you get - apart from trimming their horns before the fight.

If it was a "fight" the winner would walk away, but if the matador gets what's coming to him, I'm pretty sure the bull doesn't get to walk away.

This is nothing more than ritualized slaughter so some ponce in a sequinned outfit gets to look hard in front of the senoritas.

If that's their way of life, so be it, but I sure as hell don't have to like it. And I don't.
